Cross Country Performers of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference today recognized the following student-athletes as the ACC Cross Country Performers of the Week.
 
ACC Men’s Co-Performer of the Week – Antonio Lopez Segura, Virginia Tech, Jr., Barcelona, Spain
Lopez Segura finished first at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational with an 8K time of 24:27.8, 24 seconds faster than the rest of the field. Lopez Segura led from the front, maintaining a significant gap over the competition throughout the race.
 
ACC Men’s Co-Performer of the Week – Joe Dragon, Syracuse, Sr., Wantage, N.J.
Dragon won his first individual cross country collegiate meet on Friday at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational with an 8K time of 25:11.8. The meet featured a pair of ranked teams (No. 25 Georgetown and No. 26 Michigan). He edged teammate Nathan Henderson for the individual meet victory and led three SU runners to top-seven finishes.
 
ACC Women’s Performer of the Week – Amanda Vestri, Syracuse, Sr., Webster, N.Y.
Vestri picked up the individual win in her first meet of the season, by more than 30 seconds at the Harry Groves Spikes Shoe Invitational in a dominant performance. The meet featured four ranked teams, including two teams in the top 11 of this week’s USTFCCCA poll. Vestri bested Georgetown’s Maggie Donahue by 30.7 seconds for the title.
 
ACC Women’s Freshman of the Week – Sydney Nowicki, Syracuse, Fr., Lockport, N.Y.
Nowicki finished 35th overall at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational and was the Orange’s sixth runner to cross the line. Her time of 22:15.9 was the third fastest of any true freshmen at the meet.
