GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse forward Deandre Kerr has earned ACC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Clemson senior goalkeeper George Marks notched ACC Defensive Player of the Week laurels for the second time in the first three weeks of the season.
Kerr led Syracuse to a pair of wins last week and was a part of four of the Orange’s five goals, scoring three goals and assisting on another for seven total points. In the Orange’s match against Niagara on Sept. 6, the Ajax, Ontario, native scored his first goal of the season and also assisted on Syracuse’s second tally in a 2-0 victory. He then scored two goals Friday night at Virginia in the Orange’s 3-1 win in Charlottesville in the ACC opener. The first goal was unassisted.
Marks led the stout Clemson defense to two more clean sheets last week with victories over South Florida (3-0) on Monday and NC State (2-0) on Friday. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Marks extended his scoreless streak to 427 consecutive minutes and has allowed only one goal this season. The team captain made three saves in the home win against South Florida and then had a big match in the ACC opener at NC State, recording a season-high six saves. Clemson (5-0-0) remains the lone unbeaten team in ACC men’s soccer, while Marks leads the conference in goals-against average (0.21 GAA).

The second week of conference play this weekend is highlighted by a pair of rivalry matches on ACC Network: Virginia at Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. Friday and Duke at North Carolina at 7 p.m. Sunday.
