GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia Tech’s Youssef Ramadan has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while teammate Noah Zawadzki claimed Men’s Diver of the Week honors. Louisville’s Gabi Albiero picked up ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week honors, and Duke’s Margo O’Meara notched Women’s Diver of the Week for the fourth straight time.
Ramadan earned three first-place individual finishes and was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team in the No. 16 Hokies’ 187-113 dual win over No. 17 Virginia. He won the 100 backstroke (47.58), 100 freestyle (43.23) and 100 butterfly (46.84), earning NCAA B standards in each. To finish the meet, the sophomore from Cairo, Egypt, was the leadoff to the winning 400 free relay, which finished in a time of 2:54.94.
Zawadzki won both springboard events against Virginia. The senior from Greensboro, North Carolina, scored a season-best 404.55 in the 1-meter event and 374.48 in the 3-meter.
Albiero captured two individual events and was part of the winning 400 freestyle and 200 medley relay teams in No. 15 Louisville’s 182-118 victory against No. 10 Indiana. The sophomore from Louisville, Kentucky, won the 50 freestyle (22.25) and also beat the field by a full second in the 100 butterfly (51.63), recording NCAA B cuts in each race. She was part of the 400 freestyle relay team that won in an A-cut time of 3:14.26 and 200 medley relay which touched first in a season-best 1:36.72.
O’Meara won both springboard events in the Blue Devils’ dual against No. 5 NC State. The freshman from St. Louis, Missouri, remained undefeated on the 3-meter springboard through five competitions this season, placing first out of seven divers with a score of 340.65. She also won the 1-meter event with a score of 325.35.
