Miami’s Wong, Syracuse’s Mintz Pick Up ACC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Miami junior guard Isaiah Wong was selected ACC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Syracuse guard Judah Mintz was named ACC Rookie of the Week.
 
ACC men’s basketball weekly honors are determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel and announced on Mondays throughout the regular season.
 
Wong averaged 29.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game in wins over Cornell and NC State as the Hurricanes improved to 10-1 on the season. The native of Piscataway, New Jersey, scored a career-high 36 points in a 107-105 win over Cornell, the most points by a power conference player this season and the top mark by a Hurricane in 15 seasons. He then helped Miami rally from a 16-point deficit against NC State, scoring 22 points and recording a career-high eight assists in an 80-73 victory. For the week, he committed just one turnover in 69 minutes, while shooting 19-of-30 (63.3%) from the field, 7-of-12 (58.3%) from deep and 13-of-14 (92.8%) at the free-throw line.
 
Mintz averaged 13.0 points, 7.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game in victories over Oakland and Georgetown. A native of Fort Washington, Maryland, he scored 10 points and dished out five assists in the Orange’s 95-66 triumph over Oakland. In a rivalry game against Georgetown, he recorded his first career double-double, scoring 16 points and dishing out 10 assists, which is tied for the most by an ACC player this season. He also racked up five steals against the Hoyas.
