Notre Dame's Miles, Florida State's Latson Earn ACC WBB Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame sophomore guard Olivia Miles has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, and Florida State guard Ta’Niya Latson earned Freshman of the Week honors. Miles was named for the first time this season, while Latson was honored for the fourth time.

ACC women’s basketball weekly awards are voted on by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel.
 
Miles averaged 17.5 points, 5.5 assists and shot 59.3 percent (16-for-27) from the field in Notre Dame’s pair of top-25 matchups last week. In a narrow setback to No. 20 Maryland last Thursday, the Phillipsburg, New Jersey native scored 14 points and handed out a game-high seven assists. On Sunday, Miles led the Fighting Irish with 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals to hand No. 3 UConn its first loss of the season with a 74-60 home victory.
 
Latson averaged 25.5 points and shot 58.6 percent from the floor to lead Florida State to a pair of nonconference victories last week. The guard opened the week with 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting in a 92-87 road win at Wisconsin in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Thursday. The guard scored 10 of her 27 in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory over the Badgers. On Sunday, the Miami, Florida native dropped in a game-high 24 points with four rebounds and four steals in an 83-48 triumph over Stetson. She is currently the only player in the ACC to average more than 20 points per contest (24.6).
