GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College graduate attacker Charlotte North was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, while North Carolina graduate goalie Taylor Moreno was selected the Defensive Player of the Week.
North became the ACC all-time leading scorer Saturday as she continued her torrid start to the season. The native of Dallas scored 11 goals last week in the top-ranked Eagles’ wins over No. 24 UMass (22-5) and Boston University (22-6). The senior attacker posted an impressive 76.4 shot on goal percentage (13-of-17). She became the ACC’s all-time leading goal scorer with her fourth goal, the 284th of her career.
Moreno broke the UNC career record for wins by a goalie when the Tar Heels beat Furman, 20-7, on Feb. 16. The Huntington, New York, native made two saves in one half of work against the Paladins, improving her career record to 50-6. In the Tar Heels’ 15-11 win at No. 7 Florida on Saturday, Moreno made eight saves and gathered four ground balls. For the week she gathered six ground balls and caused a turnover.
Six ACC women’s lacrosse teams are ranked in the latest Inside Lacrosse Women/IWLCA poll, with the ACC holding each of the top three spots and six of the top 20 with Boston College (1), North Carolina (2), Syracuse (3), Duke (8), Virginia (13) and Notre Dame (17). The ACC has the most teams in the poll among all conferences.
