GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia Tech’s Sam Törnqvist claimed Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Swimmer of the Week honors, while Virginia Tech’s Noah Zawadzki earned Men’s Diver of the Week honors. Florida State’s Rebecca Moynihan notched ACC Women’s Swimmer of the Week honors, and Virginia Tech’s Teagan Moravek notched Women’s Diver of the Week laurels.
The 2022 ACC Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships begin next Tuesday and will be contested Feb. 15-19 at McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
ACC MEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Sam Törnqvist, Virginia Tech, Gr., Stockholm, Sweden
Törnqvist notched three NCAA individual B cuts at the Virginia Tech Invitational. He won the 100 backstroke (45.89) and 200 backstroke (1:40.66) and was runner-up in the 200 individual medley (1:45.31). Törnqvist also was the leadoff leg for the winning 200 and 400 medley relay teams.
ACC WOMEN’S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Rebecca Moynihan, Florida State, Sr., Palmerston North, New Zealand
Competing at the Auburn Invitational last weekend, Moynihan recorded three NCAA individual B cuts, while her relay teams earned an NCAA A standard as well as one B cut. She led the Seminoles to an NCAA Automatic time in the 200 medley relay (1:36.39), clinching FSU’s first relay berth in the NCAA Championships since 2019. Moynihan also clocked a B standard in the 50 freestyle (22.60). She also led off the 200 freestyle relay, which earned an NCAA B cut.
ACC MEN’S DIVER OF THE WEEK
Noah Zawadzki, Virginia Tech, Sr., Greensboro, N.C.
Zawadzki was named ACC Diver of the Week for the third time this season. He broke the pool and school record in the 1-meter event with a score of 426.75 at the Virginia Tech Invitational. It marked the highest score in the ACC this season.

Teagan Moravek, Virginia Tech, Sr., Loveland, Ohio
Moravek was named ACC Diver of the Week for the second time this season. She notched a pool record in the 1-meter with her score of 354.30 at the Virginia Tech Invitational.
