Florida State's Latson Sweeps ACC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State guard Ta’Niya Latson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Latson earns her third ACC Player of the Week honor and eighth consecutive Rookie of the Week award.

ACC women’s basketball weekly awards are voted on by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel.

Latson’s eighth Rookie of the Week honor is the second-most in conference history and is one award shy of tying the conference record set by former Wake Forest standout Tracy Connor in 1992-93. The Miami, Florida, native averaged 26.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals in road conference victories over No. 13 North Carolina and Georgia Tech. Latson was 14-for-29 (48.3 percent) from the field, knocked down five 3-pointers and finished 20-for-22 (90.9 percent) from the free-throw line.

In the Thursday win over the Tar Heels, the freshman scored a game-high 21 points with eight rebounds and six assists. She followed that performance with her fourth 30-point performance of the season, scoring 32 points while pulling down eight rebounds in a victory at Georgia Tech on Sunday.
