GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame freshman Maruan Osman-Touson has been selected the ACC Men’s Fencer of the Week, while Fighting Irish freshman Eszter Muhari has been named ACC Women’s Fencer of the Week.
Competing in epee, Osman-Touson posted a 16-5 record against seven top-10 teams at the St. John’s Invitational and Philadelphia Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The native of Budapest, Hungary went 3-0 in his bouts against No. 8 Penn, No. 9 St. John’s (twice) and No. 10 NYU and also sported a 2-1 mark against No. 2 Columbia.
Also a native of Budapest, Hungary, Muhari posted a 19-2 record while competing in the St. John’s Invitational and Philadelphia Invitational. In the matches in which Muhari competed, the Fighting Irish posted a 6-1 team record while fencing against seven top-13 opponents. Competing in epee, Muhari went 3-0 against No. 3 Columbia (twice), No. 6 Penn State and No. 13 St. John’s (twice) and was 2-1 against No. 5 Ohio State and No. 12 Yale.
