GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse senior guard Dyaisha Fair has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, and North Carolina guard Paulina Paris earned Rookie of the Week honors.
ACC women’s basketball weekly awards are voted on by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel.
Fair averaged 27.5 points and shot 60.0 percent (18-for-30) from the field in a pair of conference matchups last week. The Rochester, New York, native opened her week with a season-high 36 points on eight made 3-pointers and a perfect 6-for-6 mark from the free-throw line, as the Orange defeated Virginia 90-72. Fair’s 36 points are the most by an ACC player this season, and she also added five assists and five rebounds against the Cavaliers. She followed that performance with 19 points on 7-for-14 (50.0 percent) from the field and 5-of-7 (71.4 percent) from 3-point range in a narrow setback to Louisville on Sunday.
Paris averaged 13.5 points and shot 42.9 percent (9-for-21) in a pair of conference victories last week, as the Tar Heels extended their winning streak to seven straight. After she tallied five points in a win at Pitt on Thursday, the Congers, New York, native recorded a game-high 22 points with six 3-pointers and five steals in a 69-58 road win at Clemson on Sunday.
