CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State's Audrey Koenig and NC State's Madison Williams were selected the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Miami's Cianna Tejada earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Miami's Savanna Vach was selected Setter of the Week for the fourth time this season, while Georgia Tech's Heloise Soares picked up Freshman of the Week honors.
Koenig led Florida State to an undefeated weekend after sweeping North Carolina, 3-0, and defeating Duke, 3-1. The junior outside hitter recorded her third and fourth double-doubles of the season, totaling 22 kills, 20 digs and four blocks across the Seminoles' two games. Koenig tallied 14 kills (.414), 10 digs and two blocks against the Tar Heels on Friday, and posted 19 kills (.417), 10 digs and two blocks against the Blue Devils on Sunday. Over the weekend, the Wesley Chapel, Florida, native averaged a .415 hitting percentage, 4.13 kills per set, 4.38 points per set and 2.50 digs per set.
Williams dropped 22 kills to help NC State sweep Notre Dame before taking down No. 5 Louisville in four sets. The redshirt junior outside hitter put up 11 kills in each game, averaging 3.14 kills per set and 3.43 points per set. Against the Irish, the Grand Prairie, Texas, native finished with a .550 hitting percentage and did not commit a single error. Williams' 11 kills against the Cards helped the Wolfpack secure the first win in program history over a top-five opponent, first over a ranked opponent in Reynolds Coliseum and only the second win over a nationally ranked opponent in the program's 47-year history.
Tejada set a career record twice in Miami's undefeated weekend over both Duke and North Carolina by a 3-1 score. Against the Blue Devils on Friday, the sophomore middle blocker collected three kills and a dig on top of a career-high 7.0 blocks, averaging 1.75 blocks per set. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native improved on that record, securing 8.0 blocks against the Tar Heels on Sunday, along with five kills and 8.5 points. Overall, the sophomore tallied 15.0 blocks and eight kills on the weekend and tied for eighth in the Miami record book for most blocks in a four-set match.
Vach earned her third-consecutive weekly award following a 76-assist weekend to average 9.50 per set and lead the Canes to a 2-0 weekend. The fifth-year setter notched 47 assists against the Blue Devils with eight digs, two kills and an ace on Friday before collecting 29 assists, eight digs, three blocks, two aces and a kill against the Tar Heels on Sunday. Vach leads the conference in assists per set at 10.73 and is second in the league in total assists with 558.
Soares helped No. 11 Georgia Tech stay undefeated in conference play over the weekend, as the Yellow Jackets swept Virginia Tech on Friday and earned a five-set thrilling victory over Wake Forest on Sunday. The Joinville, Brazil, native totaled double-digit assists for the third time in her career against the Hokies with a then career-high 13 on top of four digs. The freshman collected personal bests across the board in her performance against the Demon Deacons, collecting 34 assists, eight digs, two blocks and an ace. Over the weekend, Soares finished with 47 assists, with an average of 5.88 per set, 12 digs, two blocks and an ace.
