CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Coming off a week in which the Atlantic Coast Conference teams went a combined 9-1 in dual match action and recorded two wins over top 25 opponents, none of the six teams will be in action until returning to the mat on Dec. 1-2 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.

Four ACC teams were ranked in the top 25 for the second consecutive week in the latest 2023-24 NWCA Division I Coaches Poll. NC State remained at No. 2, while Virginia Tech stayed in the top 10 at No. 10 overall. Pitt climbed up to No. 19 and North Carolina moved up one to No. 22.

ACC Wrestling Takedowns
• For the second consecutive week, four ACC teams were ranked in the latest NWCA Division I Coaches Poll (Nov. 21). NC State remained at No. 2, while Virginia Tech stayed in the top 10 at No. 10. Pitt climbed up three spots to No. 19 with wins over Lehigh and Maryland, while North Carolina came in at No. 22 overall.
 
• For the second straight week, the ACC scored two dual match wins over top 25 opponents. Virginia Tech went to New Jersey and defeated Rutgers 19-12, while Pitt traveled to Pennsylvania to down Lehigh 21-12.
 
• Overall, the ACC went 9-1 in dual match action last week - NC State 3-0, Virginia 2-0, Pitt 2-0, Virginia Tech 1-0, and North Carolina 1-1.
 
• The Duke Blue Devils and Virginia Tech Hokies also competed at the prestigious Keystone Classic. The Blue Devils finished ninth out of 27 teams at the event, as four Blue Devils –Logan Agin, Connor Barket, Gaetano Console, and Jack Wimmer – highlighted the tournament, earning top-eight finishes in their respective weight classes. Four Virginia Tech wrestlers collected 2023 Keystone Classic titles to lead the team to a second-place finish overall. Caleb Henson, Bryce Andonian, Andy Smith, and Hunter Cataka were crowned champions, while 14 of Tech's 16 competitors found the podium on Sunday.
 
• On Tuesday, Nov. 21, the ACC had several wrestlers compete at the 2023 NWCA All-Star Classic held at Penn State. Virginia Tech's Sam Latona fell to Lehigh's Connor Mcgonagle 7-5 in a second tiebreaker at 133 points, while his teammate Mekhi Lewis was defeated by Penn State's Carter Starocci 11-0 at 174 pounds. North Carolina's Lachlan McNeil scored a 4-2 decision over Navy's Josh Koderhandt at 141 pounds.
 
• In the latest InterMat NCAA Individual rankings, the ACC has 35 wrestlers among the top 33 of their respective weight classes, highlighted by 15 ACC grapplers ranked in the top 10 for their weight class. The ACC has at least one wrestler ranked in the top 10 in nine of the 10 weight classes.
 
• ESPN announced on Tuesday, Nov. 21, that the ESPN platforms will feature over 200 collegiate wrestling events during the 2023-24 season, including the ACC Friday Night Duals. The ACC Friday Night Duals will return to ACC Network with five straight weeks of conference matchups, with nearly 20 additional wrestling events streamed on ACCNX. The Friday Night Duals will begin on Jan. 26 when the No. 2-ranked Wolfpack travels to No. 19 Pitt. The Friday night series will feature the conference’s other ranked teams – No. 10 Virginia Tech and No. 22 North Carolina, among other top ACC programs.
