CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com)
 – The Atlantic Coast Conference posted a pair of non-conference dual-match wins last week with Pitt’s victory over nationally ranked Ohio State and Duke’s win over Davidson and will look to close out the fall semester on a high note with five of the six teams in action this week, Dec. 16-19.
 
Highlighted by two teams moving up in the top-25 rankings, four ACC teams were ranked in the latest NWCA Division I Coaches Poll (Dec. 12), once again headlined by NC State at No. 2 overall. Virginia Tech fell one spot to No. 11 despite not competing last week, while Pitt jumped six spots to No. 13 with its win over then-No. 5 Ohio State. North Carolina moved up two spots to No. 21, while also not competing last week.
 
The ACC is 26-8 in duals this season, including a 5-3 record versus top-25 nationally ranked competitors. Overall, the six ACC teams have combined to go 4-2 at home, 8-5 in true road bouts, and a stellar 14-1 in neutral-site matches.
 
This week will be a true challenge for the ACC, as three teams have top-25 matches on the docket. No. 11 Virginia Tech will host future ACC member No. 19 Stanford on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m. on ACCNX. No. 13 Pitt will face off with No. 5 Cornell and No. 6 Iowa State on day one of the Collegiate Wrestling Duals on Monday, Dec. 18, while No. 2 NC State will take on No. 10 Ohio State and No. 25 Northern Iowa on day two of the duals on Tuesday, Dec. 19.
 
No. 21 North Carolina will kick off the weekend with a home bout versus Morgan State on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 5 p.m. on ACCNX.

ACC Wrestling Takedowns
• For the fifth consecutive week, four ACC teams were ranked in the latest NWCA Division I Coaches Poll (Dec. 12), once again headlined by NC State at No. 2 overall. Virginia Tech fell one spot to No. 11 despite not competing last week, while Pitt jumped six spots to No. 13 with its win over Ohio State. North Carolina moved up two spots to No. 21, while also not competing last week.
 
• Over the next week and before the holiday break, the ACC will take part in several top-25 dual matches, highlighted by both Pitt and NC State competing at the Collegiate Wrestling Duals in Nashville, Tennessee, on Dec. 18-19.
 
• This weekend, No. 21 North Carolina will host Morgan State on Saturday, Dec. 16, in the Tar Heels' first dual match since falling on the road at Illinois 20-13 back on Nov. 19 before hitting the road for a non-conference match at Appalachian State on Sunday, Dec. 17.
 
• No. 11 Virginia Tech will host future ACC member and No. 19 nationally ranked Stanford on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Hokies' last home meet in the 2023 calendar year. The Cardinal are the third nationally ranked team that the Hokies have faced thus far this season in dual-match action, having taken on then-No. 7 Ohio State on Nov. 10 and then-No. 13 Rutgers on Nov. 17.
 
• On Monday, Dec. 18, No. 13 Pitt will compete in day one of the 2023 Collegiate Wrestling Duals in Nashville with matches against No. 6 Iowa State, No. 5 Cornell, and Little Rock. The Panthers have won four consecutive duals and are coming off a 21-13 win over then-No. 5 Ohio State last week for the program's first top-five win in nearly a decade.
 
• On day two of the Collegiate Wrestling Duals, Tuesday, Dec. 19, No. 2 NC State will take the mat for three matches, as the Wolfpack will face off with Lock Haven, No. 25 Northern Iowa, and No. 10 Ohio State. The Wolfpack are 7-0 this season in dual-match action and is coming off a second-place team finish at the highly touted Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational two weeks ago.
 
• The Duke Blue Devils will look to continue their winning ways with a tri-meet in Charlotte, North Carolina, along with The Citadel and Queens University. The Blue Devils are coming off a road win at Davidson last Friday, Dec. 8.
 
• In the latest InterMat NCAA Individual rankings, the ACC has 34 wrestlers among the top 33 of their respective weight classes, highlighted by 14 ACC grapplers ranked in the top 10 for their weight class. The ACC has at least one wrestler ranked in the top 10 in nine of the 10 weight classes.
