GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia Tech junior guard Georgia Amoore has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, and North Carolina guard Kayla McPherson earned Rookie of the Week honors.
 
ACC women’s basketball weekly awards are voted on by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel.
 
Amoore averaged 26.0 points and 7.5 assists in a pair of ranked victories over No. 22 NC State and No. 19 Florida State. The Ballarat, Victoria, Australia native finished 18-for-35 (51.4 percent) from the field, headlined by an 11-for-22 mark from 3-point range. In Monday’s road win over the Wolfpack, the guard posted a career-high 27 points, as the Hokies claimed their first-ever win in Raleigh. In Virginia Tech’s 84-70 victory over the Seminoles, Amoore recorded a game-high 25 points, including the 1,000th of her career, and had nine assists, as she tallied consecutive 25-point efforts for the first time in her collegiate career.
 
McPherson averaged 14.5 points last week, highlighted by a career-high 22-point outburst in Sunday’s home victory over Boston College. In her first career start, the Hull, Georgia, native finished 9-for-17 from the field, including a 4-for-7 mark from distance, and added six rebounds with three assists against the Eagles. On Thursday, the guard tallied seven points in a road setback at Syracuse.
