Notre Dame Sweeps Team Titles at 2023 ACC Fencing Championships

– Notre Dame claimed the men’s and women’s team titles Sunday at the 2023 ACC Fencing Championships, which were held at Boston College's Margot Connell Recreation Center in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. It marked the Fighting Irish’s seventh crown in the last nine seasons on both the men’s and women’s sides.

ACC foil champion Nicole Pustilnik of Notre Dame was selected the ACC Championships’ Women’s Most Valuable Fencer, while ACC sabre champion Luke Linder of Notre Dame was named the ACC Championships’ Men’s Most Valuable Fencer.

Notre Dame dominated on the women’s side, rolling to double-digit wins in each of its duals (24-3 vs. Boston College, 20-7 vs. North Carolina, 19-8 vs. Duke). Duke finished second with a 2-1 record, North Carolina was third at 1-2 and Boston College placed fourth at 0-3.

The Fighting Irish men were equally impressive in notching the team crown. Notre Dame doubled up Duke (18-9), defeated Boston College (21-6) and finished up by knocking off North Carolina (22-5). Boston College, Duke and North Carolina tied for second place, with identical 1-2 records in the team competition.

Duke will play host to the 2023 NCAA Fencing National Championships from March 23-26, at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Qualifying teams will be unveiled on March 14.
