Roberts (men’s 60-meter hurdles), Tuohy (women’s 3K and 5K) and O’Brien (women’s pentathlon) combined to win four gold medals at the NCAA Indoor Championships held earlier this month in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Davis (men’s long jump bronze medalist) and Stimmel (fourth place in the women’s pole vault) each posted NCAA podium finishes, while McCoy earned second-team All-America honors in the men’s 400 meters.

Virginia Tech’s Cianelli earned both the ACC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Coach of the Year Awards for the second consecutive season after leading both Hokie squads to the titles at last month’s ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Louisville.

Clemson’s Roberts tuned up for his NCAA gold medal run with a facility-record 60-meter hurdles time of 7.65 while claiming the ACC title. The Maplewood, New Jersey senior then became the first male Tiger to win a National Championship in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal-best and school-record time of 7.55 seconds in Albuquerque. Roberts is the first Clemson man to win an indoor national title since Miller Moss took the heptathlon in 2011.

NC State’s Tuohy turned heads during the regular season by setting NCAA records in the 1500 meters (4:06.49), mile (4:24.26) and 3000 meters (8:35.20) and also cracked the top-10 in collegiate history in the 5000 meters. The Stony Point, New York, native took the ACC title in the 3K with a meet record time of 8:51.92 before winning both the 3K and 5K at the NCAAs to key the Wolfpack’s sixth-place team finish. She also posted a mile split time of 4:23.36 in the ACC Championship DMR which was actually faster than her NCAA event record. Tuohy was named the Indoor season’s Southeast Region Female Athlete of Year by the USTFCCCA and is a member of the Bowerman Watch List.

Florida State’s Davis earned ACC Men’s Field Performer of the Week honors an eye-opening four times during the regular season, and then took Most Outstanding Field Performer honors at the ACC Championships by placing first in both the long jump and triple jump. The Lehigh Acres, Florida, senior took the bronze medal in the long jump at the NCAAs and placed fifth in the triple jump to help the Seminoles to a top-15 team finish.

Notre Dame’s O’Brien posted a pentathlon gold medal score of 4,512 at the NCAA Championships that led all collegians and is the second-best mark by an American in 2023. The Pewaukee, Wisconsin, sophomore also placed first at the ACC Indoor Championships with a mark of 4,377 that set a facility record and at the time stood as a personal best. Her top score at the NCAA finals included personal bests in the high jump and shot put, helping Notre Dame place seventh as a team. O’Brien was named the USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year.

Clemson’s McCoy took Men’s Track Most Outstanding Performer honors at the ACC Indoor Championships by placing first in the 400 meters, running a leg on the Tigers’ first-place 4x400 relay team and finishing fifth in the 200-meter dash. The Berry Island, Bahamas, native came within .16 seconds of his personal best 400 time at the NCAA finals, registering a time of 46.07 to earn second-team All-America.

Virginia Tech’s Stimmel earned ACC Field Performer of the Week recognition once during her freshman season and then placed first at the ACC Indoor Championships pole vault by clearing 4.40 meters (14-5.25). The Castalia, Ohio, native reached the same height at the NCAA Indoor Championships to earn her fourth-place finish and first-team All-America status.

Virginia Tech’s Cianelli led the Hokies to the ACC men’s Indoor title for the third consecutive year and claimed a second straight conference crown on the women’s side. The Virginia Tech men have now won eight total ACC titles under Cianelli’s watch, all since 2011. Cianelli led the Hokie women’s program to the league championship for the third time in four years and the fifth time overall. Virginia Tech earned a combined 10 men’s and women’s NCAA Indoor All-America honors.

This marks the seventh time that the same coach has swept both the ACC Men’s and Women’s Indoor Coach of the Year awards.
