Bracket Announced for 2023 ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship, Presented by Ally

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Following a dramatic win Thursday, Boston College has earned the No. 1 seed in the 2023 ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship, Presented by Ally. The tournament begins Sunday at campus sites before moving to American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game will be contested from April 26-30.
 
The Eagles (13-3, 8-1 ACC) claimed the tournament’s top seed after rallying from a six-goal, second-half deficit to earn a 17-16 win Thursday at No. 1-ranked Syracuse and hand the Orange its first defeat of the season. BC enters the tournament on a seven-game win streak. North Carolina is the six-time reigning tournament champion, winning the title every year since 2016 (the 2020 championship was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
 
The tournament starts Sunday, April 23, with a pair of first-round games. No. 10 seed Pitt (4-12, 0-9 ACC) travels to No. 7 seed Virginia Tech (9-8, 3-6) at noon, and No. 9 seed Duke (7-9, 1-8) heads to No. 8 seed Louisville (5-11, 2-7) at 2 p.m.
 
Four quarterfinal matchups will be played on Wednesday, April 26, in Charlotte. Boston College (13-3, 8-1) starts the day at 11 a.m. against the Louisville-Duke winner. No. 4 seed Virginia (11-5, 6-3) and No. 5 seed Notre Dame (12-4, 6-3) follow at approximately 1:30 p.m.
 
No. 2 seed Syracuse (15-1, 8-1) battles the Virginia Tech-Pitt winner at approximately 4 p.m., and No. 3 seed North Carolina (12-3, 7-2) faces No. 6 seed Clemson (12-5, 4-5) in the nightcap at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Tigers are making their first ACC Tournament appearance as they compete in their inaugural season.
 
The semifinals begin at 1 p.m. Friday, with the winners of the BC-Duke/Louisville and Virginia-Notre Dame games squaring off. At approximately 3:30 p.m., the winners of the Syracuse-Virginia Tech/Pitt and North Carolina-Clemson games will face off.
 
The championship game will be played at noon on Sunday, April 30.
 
All nine games of the tournament will be televised on ACC Network and also will be available on ACC Network Extra.
 
Six ACC women’s lacrosse teams are ranked in the latest IL Women/IWLCA poll, including four of the top seven. Syracuse is ranked No. 1 nationally and is followed by Boston College (5), North Carolina (6), Notre Dame (7), Virginia (11) and Clemson (17). The ACC has the most teams in the poll among all conferences.
 
ACC teams also hold three of the top five positions and six of the top 30 in the latest NCAA RPI: Syracuse (1), North Carolina (3), Boston College (5), Notre Dame (11), Virginia (12) and Clemson (28).
 
All-Session and Individual Session tickets for the ACC Championship are available through the American Legion Stadium Ticket Office and can be purchased online HERE. All-Session tickets are good for the seven games of the tournament that are played in Charlotte.
