GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference released its 2023 All-ACC Women’s Lacrosse Team on Tuesday following a vote of the league’s 10 head coaches. The ACC’s regular-season co-champions, Boston College and Syracuse, joined Notre Dame with six All-ACC honorees apiece to lead all schools. The Eagles also boast a league-leading five first-team honorees.
North Carolina had five All-ACC honorees, while Virginia had four.
Six student-athletes repeated as First-Team All-ACC honorees, including Boston College midfielder Belle Smith, Duke attack/draw Maddie Jenner and Syracuse attack Meaghan Tyrrell, who each earned first-team laurels for the third straight season.
BC’s Jenn Medjid and Sydney Scales and Virginia’s Ashlyn McGovern each notched first-team honors for the second straight year.
The ACC also announced its 2023 All-Freshman Team. North Carolina and Virginia Tech led all schools with three selections each to the 12-member team.
The ACC Attacker, Midfielder, Defender, Freshman, Goalkeeper and Coach of the Year awards will be announced following the ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship Presented by Ally.
Six ACC programs are ranked among the top 25 in the latest IL Women/IWLCA poll: Syracuse (2), Boston College (4), North Carolina (6), Notre Dame (7), Virginia (11) and Clemson (17). That is the most of any league nationally.
The ACC Women’s Lacrosse Championship Presented by Ally continues Wednesday with quarterfinal games at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. No. 9 seed Duke plays No. 1 Boston College in the quarterfinal opener at 11 a.m., followed by No. 5 Notre Dame vs. No. 4 Virginia at 1:30 p.m. No. 7 Virginia Tech takes on No. 2 Syracuse at 4 p.m., and No. 6 Clemson battles No. 3 North Carolina at 6:30 p.m.
The semifinals will be played on Friday, and the championship game will be held on Sunday, April 30. ACC Network will air all seven games from Charlotte.
