Duke Wins 2023 ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - Duke won the 2023 ACC Men's Lacrosse Championship over the weekend. The second-ranked Blue Devils clinched a share of the title on Saturday with an 18-15 home victory over No. 19 Syracuse at Koskinen Stadium and then earned it outright by virtue of No. 3 Virginia's 12-8 home win over No. 1 Notre Dame on Sunday. The Blue Devils finished the regular season with a 5-1 conference mark. With only one conference game remaining on the league schedule (Notre Dame at North Carolina on Saturday), Virginia is 4-2 and Notre Dame is 3-2.

The ACC does not have a conference tournament in men's lacrosse this season, so the league champion is determined by the regular-season standings.

The ACC championship is Duke's 10th in program history and second in the last three years (1954, 1995, 2001, 2002, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2021, 2023). The Blue Devils have won 13 regular-season crowns titles and seven ACC Tournament championships. The ACC Tournament determined the league champion from 1989-2019.

Duke's Dyson Williams scored six goals and an assist and Brennan O'Neill added six points on four goals and two assists to lead Duke Saturday. In goal, Andrew Bonafede came off the bench to make seven saves in 33 minutes of action. Jake Naso won 22-of-35 faceoffs and picked up 11 ground balls. The Blue Devils wrap up their regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday with a neutral-site game against Merrimack in Bethpage, New York.

All five ACC teams are ranked this week in the Inside Lacrosse rankings, including the top three, with No. 1 Duke, No. 2 Virginia, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 17 North Carolina and No. 18 Syracuse.

The NCAA Tournament bracket will be announced on Sunday, May 7, at 9:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
