CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina senior forward Avery Patterson was selected the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week and Clemson senior goalkeeper Halle Mackiewicz was chosen the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 4-10.

Patterson found the back of the net in both of North Carolina’s top-25 matchups last week, as she scored at No. 10 South Carolina on Thursday and later tallied the Tar Heels’ only goal against No. 12 Alabama on Sunday. Against the Gamecocks, the Jacksonville, Florida, native gave UNC an early lead in the fifth minute, as the visitors would go on to claim a key 2-1 road victory. She found the opening goal again on Sunday against the Crimson Tide, as her 59th-minute tally increased her goal streak to three straight matches.

Mackiewicz totaled six saves last week, as the Tigers blanked nationally-ranked Arkansas on Thursday and drew with Georgia on Sunday. The Broomfield, Colorado, native led the Clemson defense with four saves in a 1-0 victory over the Razorbacks, as she continued to lead the nation in clean sheets with six. Despite allowing a goal in a 1-1 draw with Georgia on Sunday, Mackiewicz made a pair of stops to help keep Clemson unbeaten on the season.

Conference play begins on Friday with four key matchups headlined by a top-10 clash when Florida State visits Clemson for a 4 p.m. kickoff on ACC Network Extra. ACC Network will feature Syracuse and Miami at 6 p.m. Rounding out Friday’s schedule, Virginia Tech heads to North Carolina at 3:30 p.m., while Notre Dame plays host to Wake Forest at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, Virginia takes on Louisville (7 p.m.; ACCNX), while Sunday’s slate features Duke hitting the road to take on Boston College at 1 p.m. (ACCNX) and Pitt taking on NC State at 2 p.m. (ACCN).
