CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville's Anna DeBeer was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while the Cardinals' Elena Scott and Pitt's Emma Monks shared Defensive Player of the Week laurels. Louisville took its third weekly award as Elle Glock was named Setter of the Week with Georgia Tech’s Larissa Mendes and Pitt’s Olivia Babcock sharing Freshman of the Week honors for the second consecutive week.
DeBeer set a career high with 24 kills in No. 2 Louisville's five-set thriller against Dayton before leading the Cardinals with 10 kills as they swept No. 12 Penn State. The Louisville, Kentucky, native recorded her third and fourth double-doubles of the season, posting 11 digs in each contest. On the road against the Flyers, DeBeer hit .353, adding two aces and two blocks. The senior averaged 4.25 kills per set and 4.69 points per set over the weekend, leading Louisville to another undefeated weekend and an 8-0 record.
Scott led Louisville with 32 digs over the weekend, recording 20 against Dayton and 18 against Penn State. The junior added 12 assists across both matches in supporting the Cardinals' efforts to take down Dayton, now ranked No. 25, and to hold the Nittany Lions to less than 20 points per set while hitting .055. The Louisville, Kentucky, native averaged 4.75 digs per set.
Monks hit at a .579 clip over the weekend to propel No. 9 Pitt to an undefeated weekend with road wins over No. 24 Marquette and Loyola Chicago. Against the Golden Eagles, the graduate middle blocker posted six kills along with a season and team-high seven blocks, including two solo blocks. In the Windy City, the Louisville, Kentucky, native registered seven kills, two digs and five blocks against the Ramblers. Monks averaged 2.0 blocks per set over the weekend along with 2.17 kills per set.
Glock recorded 81 assists over the weekend, posting a career-high 46 against the Flyers to average 10.13 assists per set. She added nine digs and five blocks at Dayton to push Louisville to a five-set victory. Against Penn State, the sophomore from Wahoo, Nebraska, led the Cardinals by averaging 11.67 assists per set with 35 total. Glock added six digs against the 12th-ranked Nittany Lions to total 15 on the weekend.
Mendes pushed No. 11 Georgia Tech to three consecutive sweeps over the weekend. The freshman outside hitter posted a .423 clip with 36 kills, averaging 4.00 per set. In the Yellow Jackets' opening game on Friday against South Alabama, the Fortaleza, Brazil native posted six kills, two aces, six digs and three blocks - one solo and two assisted. Mendes then exploded for 14 kills to hit .619 against Stetson on Saturday to lead the team, before tying her career-high 16 kills on Sunday against Florida A&M. She added an ace, a block and five digs for GT to cap off the weekend.
Babcock lifted Pitt over Marquette, recording nine kills on 16 swings to hit .438 against the 24th-ranked Golden Eagles. The freshman from Los Angeles added three digs and three blocks, averaging 3.0 kills per set in Friday's match. Against Loyola Chicago, Babcock posted a team-high 12 kills at a .364 clip with an ace, four digs and five blocks as Pitt held the Ramblers to a .054 hitting percentage.
