ACC Announces Weekly Volleyball Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Georgia Tech's Tamara Otene was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Florida State's Kiari Robey and Louisville's Elena Scott shared Defensive Player of the Week honors. Miami's Savanna Vach was named Setter of the Week for the third time this season, while Pitt's Torrey Stafford garnered her second consecutive Freshman of the Week award of the season.

Otene led Georgia Tech to consecutive 3-1 ACC victories over Clemson and NC State while earning her sixth and seventh double-doubles of the season. The outside hitter recorded 38 kills to average 4.75 kills per set over the weekend. The Auckland, New Zealand, native opened up her senior conference campaign with 22 kills and 15 digs, along with an ace and a block against the Tigers on Wednesday. Otene followed with 16 kills and 13 digs against the Wolfpack on Sunday, combined with two blocks and an assist. With 22 kills against Clemson, she tied the second-most attacks across the league in a four-set match this season.

Robey helped Florida State to a 3-0 week after averaging 1.82 blocks per set and spearheading the Seminoles' blocking unit with 20 total blocks, along with 21 kills. Overall, the Seminoles out-blocked their opponents 31-16 this past week. The junior middle blocker recorded 12 blocks, eight kills and seven digs in a five-set win at Virginia Tech, the 12 blocks being the most by a Seminole since February 2021. The Atlanta, Georgia, native added an assist and two aces against North Florida on Tuesday. Robey led FSU to a 3-0 sweep of Wake Forest where she had 10 kills, six blocks and an ace.

Scott registered 38 digs this weekend for Louisville, averaging 5.43 digs per set to reach her 1,000th career dig and total 1,022 career digs. In the Cardinals' 3-0 sweep of Syracuse in their first ACC matchup, the Louisville, Kentucky, native recorded 15 digs, three assists and an ace. Looking for a 2-0 weekend, Scott had 23 digs, four assists and two aces for a 3-1 win over Boston College. The junior libero recorded her 12th consecutive double digit dig match against the Eagles.

Vach earned her second consecutive and third overall weekly award after totaling 99 assists, averaging 12.38 assists per set for the Canes over the first weekend of ACC play. Against Wake Forest, she tallied 50 assists, along with 11 digs and three blocks. The Winter Springs, Florida, native then helped Miami earn a 3-1 win over Virginia Tech with 49 assists, a kill, four aces and 12 digs. She now leads the league in assists per set at 10.95.

Stafford garnered her second consecutive award after recording 40 kills, 14 digs, five blocks to average 4.44 kills per set and 4.82 points per set to help Pitt to a 3-0 week. After posting nine kills against UMBC, the Torrance, California, native tallied a team-high 15 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Duke, hitting at a .333 clip, with six kills and two assists. The freshman kept it rolling and added a team-high 16 kills in a 3-0 sweep of North Carolina, hitting .278 with four digs and two blocks. Stafford is averaging a league-leading 5.17 kills per set in conference play.
