ACC Unveils Week Four Indoor Track & Field Honorees

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.org) – Seven student-athletes from six different institutions have been honored as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Indoor Track & Field performers of the week. The honorees shined not only throughout the conference but also established themselves near the top of NCAA qualifying lists in their respective events.
 
Virginia Tech led the way with Lindsey Butler winning Women’s Indoor Co-Track Athlete of the Week, while Judson Lincoln IV was named Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week. Florida State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Miami, and Virginia each had a student-athlete garner a weekly honor.
 
The Hurricanes’ Russell Robinson becomes the first ACC student-athlete to earn his second weekly honor of the season. With six new additions to the honoree list, 26 student-athletes have been recognized by the conference over the first four weeks of the season.
 
ACC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Judson Lincoln IV, So., Virginia Tech, Columbia, Md.
Lincoln IV won the 200m crown at the Hokie Invitational over the weekend with a time of 21.06, marking the fastest time in the conference this season. The mark for the sophomore from Columbia, Maryland, ranks 23rd nationally.
 
ACC Women’s Indoor Co-Track Athletes of the Week
Alexandra Webster, R-Jr., Florida State, The Woodlands, Texas
While competing in the 60m hurdles final of the RAAD Sports Invitational, Webster ran a 8.16 to set the new fastest time in the conference this season. The native of The Woodlands, Texas, clocked a top-10 time nationally and moved into the No. 8 spot on the NCAA Performance List.
 
Lindsey Butler, Sr., Virginia Tech, Corning, N.Y.
Butler broke the Virginia Tech record in the 1000m with a time of 2:41.00 at the Hokie Invitational, which resulted in a second-place finish. A native of Corning, New York, Butler’s time is tied for the seventh-fastest in NCAA history, according to the USTFCCCA.
 
ACC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Russell Robinson, Sr., Miami, Windermere, Fla.
After winning the ACC’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award just seven days ago, Robinson once again proved why he is among the best in the country. The senior from Windermere, Florida, broke his own school record in the triple jump, leaping 16.59m. The mark sits as the second-best in the nation this season.
 
ACC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Celia Rifaterra, So., Virginia, Spain
Rifaterra cleared a personal-best 1.84m in the high jump at the Hokie Invitational. The Spainard’s mark ranks second all-time at Virginia and is the leading mark in the ACC this season. The mark also ranks 12th nationally on the year.
 
ACC Men’s Indoor Freshman of the Week
Jack Ahart, Fr., Notre Dame, Kinnelon, N.J.
The Notre Dame freshman helped lead the Irish to five first-place finishes, while also setting a new PR in the 400m with a time of 47.60. The Kinnelon, New Jersey, native’s mark is the fastest in the ACC this season and ranks 38th nationally.
 
ACC Women’s Indoor Freshman of the Week
Delea Martins, Fr., North Carolina, Milwaukee, Wisc.
Martins won the 300m at the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge over the weekend with a time of 39.42, setting a personal record. The freshman also anchored the Tar Heels’ 4x400 relay team, finishing in a time of 3:48.26. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin, native was the lone participant at the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge to win multiple events.
