CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – California senior forward Nonso Adimabua earned Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Cal junior goalkeeper Marco Brougher notched ACC Defensive Player of the Week for matches played October 7-13, it was announced Tuesday.
 
A native of Asaba, Nigeria, Adimabua scored a 21st-minute game-winning goal in Cal’s 1-0 upset of No. 1 Pitt on Friday, October 11, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The win was Cal’s first conference victory in the ACC, and the goal was the fifth-year senior’s third of the season.
 
Brougher made a career-high eight saves, including a diving stop of an 80th-minute penalty kick by Pitt leading scorer Luis Sahmkow – to preserve the 1-0 victory over the top-ranked Panthers. The native of Los Altos Hills, California, recorded his third clean sheet of the season.
 
Five league games are scheduled for Saturday, October 19, highlighted by a matchup between a pair of teams near the top of the league standings, as Pitt travels to North Carolina at 7 p.m. ET. The Panthers currently stand in a three-way tie atop the conference with 12 points, while UNC is just behind with 10 points.
