CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State sophomore forward Jordynn Dudley was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Boston College senior goalkeeper Wiebke Willebrandt and Virginia Tech senior goalkeeper Lauren Hargrove were named ACC Co-Defensive Players of the Week for matches played from October 21-27.
Dudley had a hand in three of Florida State’s four goals, as the Seminoles knocked off No. 4 North Carolina Friday evening, 4-2. The Milton, Georgia, native opened the scoring in the 20th minute when her flick just got over the end line to give the home side an early 1-0 advantage. After the score was deadlocked at 2-2 at halftime, the striker dished out her lone assist of the night in the 52nd minute and helped give FSU a 3-2 lead. Dudley later added an insurance goal in the 67th minute when her right-footed shot found the back of the net and sealed the key conference victory.
Willebrandt totaled 14 saves in a pair of conference shutouts last week. The Lippstadt, Germany, native began the two-match span with 10 saves, including three stops in the final three minutes of play, in a scoreless draw at Louisville last Thursday. On Sunday, the senior recorded four saves and claimed her second straight clean sheet in BC’s 3-0 win over Miami. With the two strong performances, Willebrandt recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time in her 72-match career.
Hargrove notched a pair of clean sheets in two ACC matches last week, capped off with a six-save effort in Virginia Tech’s 2-0 victory over No. 7 Notre Dame on Sunday. After the Richmond, Virginia, native grabbed one stop in the Hokies’ scoreless draw at NC State last Thursday, Hargrove helped shut out the Fighting Irish on Sunday despite Notre Dame entering the weekend with the seventh-best scoring offense in the nation (2.73 goals per match). Four of Hargrove’s six saves came in the second half, leading Virginia Tech to a pair of second-half goals to help clinch a spot in next week’s 2024 Ally ACC Women’s Soccer Championship.
The regular season ends on Thursday, October 31, with a women’s soccer doubleheader on ACC Network. The action starts at 6 p.m. ET when Florida State heads to Miami and faces the Hurricanes, while at 8 p.m. ET, Virginia visits Virginia Tech. The bracket for the 2024 Ally ACC Women’s Soccer Championship will be announced Thursday night following the result between California at Stanford, which is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET on ACCNX. The first round begins Sunday, November 3, at campus sites hosted by the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds.
