Notre Dame’s Hidalgo, Duke’s Fournier Earn ACC WBB Weekly Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame sophomore guard Hannah Hidalgo has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, and Duke forward Toby Fournier earned Rookie of the Week honors for games played between November 18-24.

ACC women’s basketball weekly awards are voted on by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel.

Hidalgo shined in Notre Dame’s marquee 74-61 win at No. 3 USC on Saturday, as the Merchantville, New Jersey, native tallied a team-high 24 points with six rebounds, eight assists and five steals. With the standout performance, the guard posted her 10th career game with at least 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals, the most by a Division I player over the last 25 seasons. The 24 points marked her 30th career game with 20 points or more after making just 40 career appearances.

Fournier tallied a career-high 25 points, six rebounds and three blocks in Duke’s 79-47 victory over Belmont on Thursday. The Toronto, Ontario, Canada, native finished 10-of-15 (66.7 percent) from the field matching her season high, as her 25 points ware the most points scored by a freshman in the ACC last week. Fournier currently leads the Blue Devils in scoring at 14.5 points per game and has reached double figures in five of her six games.

Five ACC teams are ranked in the latest Associated Press (AP) Poll, as Notre Dame leads the way, remaining at No. 3 following its perfect 5-0 start. Duke is No. 13, North Carolina is No. 16, NC State is No. 20 and Louisville is No. 24. Stanford, Florida State and Miami are receiving votes.
