ACC in the Rankings
- Three ACC teams were ranked in the top 12 of the most recent College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings (November 26) – Miami (No. 6), SMU (No. 9) and Clemson (No. 12).
- The ACC's three teams in the top 12 were tied for the second-most among all conferences.
- The ACC had three teams ranked in the most recent Associated Press Top 25 Poll (November 24) - Miami (No. 8), SMU (No. 9) and Clemson (No. 12).
- Four ACC teams also received votes - Syracuse (37), Louisville (24), Duke (6) and Georgia Tech (2).
- Three ACC teams are ranked in the most recent top 25 of the US LBM Coaches Poll (November 24) - Miami (No. 7), SMU (No. 9) and Clemson (No. 12).
- Both Miami and Clemson have been ranked in every coaches poll this season.
- Four ACC teams received votes - Duke (31), Syracuse (19), Louisville (8) and Georgia Tech (1).
ACC Having a Strong Season in 2024
- The ACC has 11 teams with six or more wins on the season earning bowl eligibility.
- The ACC has five teams with three or fewer losses on the season.
- Two of the eight teams (P4 or ND) with one loss or less are from the ACC, the second-most of all conferences.
- There were 4 unbeaten ACC teams in conference play entering the month of November, the most in league history. The last time there were even three unbeaten teams in ACC play entering November was 1967.
ACC Versus Peer P4 Conferences
- The ACC has a winning record versus the Big 10 (3-2).
- The ACC has a winning record versus the Big 12 (3-2).
- No other conference has more wins versus the SEC (2).
- The ACC has the second-most Power 4 non-conference wins with eight among all conferences.
- Five of the eight P4 non-conference wins have come on the road.
- The ACC’s top four ranked teams have played more P4 non-conference games – ACC (5), SEC (4), Big 12 (4), B1G (1) – than top four ranked teams from other conferences.
ACC Tops Among All FBS Conferences
- The ACC has an aggressive non-conference slate again this year - 26 games scheduled against Power 4 opponents, including Notre Dame – the most of any conference.
- The ACC has the most road wins (41) among all conferences.
- The ACC has the best winning percentage (52 percent) in road games among all conferences – the only conference with a winning percentage over .500 in road games this year.
- The ACC has the most wins (26) in close games – decided by four points or fewer - among all conferences.
- The ACC has the most wins (44) in one-TD games – decided by eight points or fewer - among all conferences.
- The ACC has the second-most non-conference wins (46) among all conferences.
- 50 percent of the ACC’s league games have been decided by one score.
- The ACC has five teams ranked in the top 25 of all of FBS in total offense on the season - the most among all FBS conferences.
- Four of the top 25 scoring offenses in all of FBS this season are from the ACC – tied for the most of all FBS conferences.
SMU to Play in 20th ACC Football Championship Game
- The SMU Mustangs clinched a spot in the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Football Championship Game with their 33-7 win at Virginia last Saturday (November 23).
- The No. 9 nationally ranked Mustangs are 10-1 overall and 7-0 in ACC play this season with their regular-season finale versus California set for Saturday, November 30, at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
- Ranked No. 9 in the latest College Football Playoff (CFP) rankings on Tuesday, November 26, the Mustangs have been in each of the first three CFP rankings this year. SMU has also been ranked in the last eight Associated Press Top 25 polls, breaking in at No. 25 on October 6 and ascending to as high as No. 9 this week.
Championship Game Clinching Scenarios in Week 14
- Heading into Week 14 of the 2024 regular season this week, the second and final spot in the 2024 ACC Football Championship Game comes down to two teams in the No. 6 Miami Hurricanes and No. 12 Clemson Tigers.
- With a win over Syracuse on Saturday, November 30, Miami earns the second spot in the ACC Football Championship Game to take on SMU on Saturday, December 7, in Bank of America Stadium. The Hurricanes will finish the ACC slate at 7-1 and hold the tiebreaker over Clemson with their win over Louisville.
- If Syracuse defeats Miami on Saturday, the Clemson Tigers clinch a spot in the championship game at 7-1 in ACC play. The Tigers take on No. 15 South Carolina in non-conference play on Saturday, November 30, at noon ET on ESPN.
ACC in the first decade of the CFP
- The ACC has won the second-most national titles among all conferences.
- The ACC is one of only two conferences with a .500 or better winning percentage in the CFP.
- The ACC has the second-best record overall in the CFP by conference (ACC is 6-6 overall and only behind SEC).
- Three different ACC teams have reached the CFP in Clemson (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020), Florida State (2014), and Notre Dame (2020, played as a full ACC member).
- In the final CFP top 25 rankings over the last four years there are only seven programs that have been in each – Clemson and NC State are included from the ACC.
- No conference has more than two teams that can state that claim.
- The ACC is the only conference to have every team ranked at least once in the first 10 years of the CFP rankings (2014-2023).
- 16 of the 17 current ACC programs have been ranked in the CFP rankings over the first 10 years (2014-2023).
