Boston College’s Donovan Ezeiruaku Wins Ted Hendricks Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (the.ACC.com) – Boston College’s Donovan Ezeiruaku was named the winner of the 2024 Ted Hendricks Award, which honors the most exceptional defensive end in college football.

The senior defensive end earned Consensus First-Team All-American honors, making him the 13th Consensus All-American in Boston College history and the first since 2013. Ezeiurku received first-team recognition from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), the Associated Press (AP), and The Sporting News. In addition, he was selected as a second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

Ezeiruaku was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year and earned a spot on the First-Team All-ACC. He was a semifinalist for several prestigious awards, including the Bednarik Award, Lombardi Award, and Walter Camp Player of the Year Award. Additionally, he received the Bulger Lowe Award from the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston and the Season Gold Helmet Award from the New England Football Writers.

Ezeiruaku led all of FBS in sacks per game at 1.38 and was tops in the country in total sacks in the regular season with 16.5, which tied the BC single-season record. He posted at least one sack in eight games and two or more in six games.

He also led the Eagles with 80 tackles on the season. His 20.5 tackles-for-loss were a team-high and ranked second in FBS. Ezeiruaku added three forced fumbles and 15 quarterback hurries.

The 2024 Hendricks Award trophy presentation will take place early in the year 2025 (time and place to be announced).
