CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse junior attack Olivia Adamson was named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Orange graduate defender Bianca Chevarie was selected ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Also named the IWLCA Co-Offensive National Player of the Week, Adamson tied her season high with six points on four goals and two assists in Syracuse’s upset of No. 2 Notre Dame on Saturday in South Bend, Indiana. The St. Petersburg, Florida, native had two goals and an assist in the third quarter as the Orange erased a four-goal halftime deficit. After Notre Dame scored to get within two with 6:56 remaining in the contest, Adamson tallied her fourth goal of the day to put the game out of reach.
Chevarie anchored the ‘Cuse defense in the Orange’s win at No. 2 Notre Dame. A native of Brantford, Ontario, Chevarie caused a turnover and picked up the ground ball on Notre Dame's first two possessions of the second half, helping Syracuse limit the Fighting Irish to just one goal in the third quarter as Syracuse erased a four-goal halftime deficit. Chevarie and the Orange had to play through two two-minute non-releasable penalties in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
