Post’s 30-Point Performance Leads Boston College Past Miami, 81-65

WASHINGTON (theACC.com) – Led by Quinten Post’s game-high 30 points and 13 rebounds, 11th-seed Boston College advanced to Wednesday’s second round with an 81-65 victory over 14th-seed Miami Tuesday evening at Capital One Arena.
 
With the win, the Eagles will take on six-seed Clemson on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. on ESPNU. Post recorded his 10th double-double of the season and third 30-point double-double. In the opening half, Post scored 17 points to help the Eagles establish a 15-point lead at halftime.
 
Jaeden Zackery contributed 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor, while adding four rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
 
Trailing 7-2 to start the game, BC outscored Miami 14-6 over the next 3:30 to take a 16-13 lead at the first media timeout.  Post scored nine of the 14 points during the run.
 
Boston College outscored Miami 17-1 to take a 16-point at 30-14 to lead midway through the first half before going into the break leading 47-32.
 
Claudell Harris Jr. knocked down a game-high four 3-pointers to finish with 12 points, while he also finished with six rebounds. As a team, Boston College shot 49.2 percent from the field, marking the team’s highest shooting percentage since 51.9 percent at Florida State on February 20.
 
The Eagles also finished 8-of-9 from the free throw line in the contest, highlighted by Post’s perfect 7-of-7 mark at the line. In his last five games, Post has connected on 18-of-19 free throw attempts for the Eagles.
 
Miami was led by fourth-year junior Norchad Omier, who posted his 17th double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while fellow fourth-year junior Nijel Pack also tallied 18 points in the loss.
 
Miami made good on four of their first six shots to start the second half and pulled to within 10 at 56-46 with 15:23 to go in the second half.
 
Miami could never get closer than eight points, as the Eagles used a 48 percent second-half shooting effort to pull away for the 81-65 win.
 
Of Note
Boston College (18-14, 8-12 ACC) moves on to the second round of the ACC Tournament, where it will meet Clemson (21-10, 11-9 ACC). The Eagles are 0-3 all-time against the Tigers in conference postseason play.

With the win, Boston College improved to 14-18 all-time in the ACC Tournament. In games played at Capital One Arena, BC is now 1-1, avenging a 2016 loss to Florida State.
 
The win gives Boston College a 30-29 advantage in the all-time series against the Hurricanes. It also hands BC its third win over Miami this season, marking the first time that the Eagles have beaten an opponent three times in a season since 2006-07.
 
The win gives Boston College its third-straight opening-round win in the ACC Tournament under head coach Earl Grant.
 
When eclipsing 80 points on the season, the Eagles are now a perfect 7-0 in the 2023-24 season.
