ACC Women's Lacrosse Wraps Up Regular Season Thursday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse finishes 2024 regular-season play this week. At 8-0 in ACC play, Syracuse has clinched its first outright ACC regular-season title and will be the No. 1 seed in the 2024 ACC Tournament.

Six ACC women’s lacrosse teams are ranked in the latest IL Women/IWLCA poll, including four in the top 10, with Syracuse (2), Notre Dame (3), Boston College and Virginia (T6), North Carolina (15) and Duke (25). The ACC has the most teams in the poll among all conferences.

Five conference games are slated for Wednesday and Thursday, including three televised matchups. Virginia plays at Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. Wednesday on ACC Network. In an ESPNU doubleheader on Thursday, Duke visits North Carolina at 3 p.m. and Syracuse plays at Boston College at 5 p.m. Also on Thursday on ACCNX, Notre Dame travels to Louisville at noon and Clemson plays at Pitt at 4 p.m.

The 2024 ACC Championship begins Sunday with first-round games on campus sites. The quarterfinals through finals will be contested April 24-28 at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Noting ACC Women's Lacrosse
• Boston College, Duke, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Virginia have clinched first-round byes for the ACC Tournament and will open tourney play with the quarterfinals on Wednesday in Charlotte.
• Clemson, Louisville, Pitt and Virginia Tech will play Sunday in first-round games.
• In the NCAA's latest RPI, released Monday, six teams are among the top 25: Syracuse (3), Virginia (6), Notre Dame (9), Boston College (12), North Carolina (18) and Clemson (25).
• ACC teams finished 58-15 (79.4%) in non-conference play during the regular season, the most wins and best win percentage of any conference.
• While road teams were 18-7 through the first five weeks of league play, home teams have captured 11 of 15 ACC games over the last three weeks.
• The ACC boasts four of the nation's top scoring offenses, with Boston College (3rd, 17.3/game), Notre Dame (4th, 17.0/game), Syracuse (8th, 16.0) and Clemson (19th, 14.7).
• Boston College ranks third nationally in scoring defense at 7.9 goals allowed per game, while Notre Dame is 11th (8.6).
• Three ACC teams rank in the top 10 nationally in scoring margin: BC (2nd, +9.3/game), Notre Dame (3rd, +8.4) and Syracuse (10th, +6.3).
• Duke's Katie DeSimone ranks fifth nationally in goals this season with 58, while BC's Rachel Clark and Louisville's Kokoro Nakazawa are tied for ninth (55).
• Virginia Tech's Kayla Downey owns a nation-best 49 assists this season, while UVa's Morgan Schwab (48) is third and BC's Mckenna Davis (47) is fourth.
• Notre Dame's Kasey Choma owns 234 career goals, which is most among active ACC players and 10th in ACC history.
• 26 ACC players were named to the Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America Team, including five first teamers: Sydney Scales (BC), Kasey Choma and Jackie Wolak (ND) and Katie Goodale (SU).
• Five ACC head coaches rank among the top 25 active Division I head coaches in wins: UNC's Jenny Levy (2nd, 420), Duke's Kerstin Kimel (6th, 350), ND's Christine Halfpenny (21st, 193) and BC's Acacia Walker-Weinstein and UL's Scott Teeter (25th, 185).
• 25 ACC players have been named to the 2024 Tewaaraton Watch List. The is the most of any league.
• With Boston College reaching the NCAA championship game in 2023, at least one ACC team has played in the national title game in 13 of the last 14 seasons.
• With Boston College and Syracuse, the ACC had at least two teams competing in the NCAA's Championship Weekend for the 18th time in league history, including the fifth straight.
• The ACC has had at least one team in the national semis in 33 straight tournaments and the 37 times overall. ACC teams have made 30 championship game appearances and 55 national semifinal appearances.
• Boston College won its first ACC Championship in 2023, rallying to defeat six-time reigning champion North Carolina, 11-9, on April 30 in Charlotte.
