CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse has earned the No. 1 seed in the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship, which begins Sunday, April 21, at campus sites before shifting to American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game will be contested in Charlotte from April 24-28.
The Orange (12-4, 8-1 ACC) earned the tournament’s top seed after winning the ACC regular-season title outright for the first time in program history. This also is the first time Syracuse has picked up the No. 1 seed in the ACC Championship. Syracuse earned its only ACC Championship in 2015 when it won the conference tournament in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The tournament starts Sunday with a pair of first-round games. No. 9 seed Louisville (7-10, 2-7 ACC) travels to No. 8 seed Virginia Tech (9-8, 2-7) at noon to open the championship, while No. 10 seed Pitt (5-12, 0-9) visits No. 7 seed Clemson (10-6, 3-6) at 2 p.m. in an immediate rematch of the regular-season game played today in Pittsburgh and won by the Tigers, 12-11 in overtime.
Four quarterfinal matchups will be played on Wednesday. Syracuse starts the day at 11 a.m. against the Virginia Tech-Louisville winner. No. 4 seed North Carolina (10-5, 6-3) and No. 5 seed Virginia (13-3, 6-3) follow at 2 p.m.
Winners of nine straight games, No. 2 seed Notre Dame (14-2, 7-2) battles the Clemson-Pitt winner at 5 p.m. After handing Syracuse its first conference loss on Thursday to conclude the regular season, No. 3 seed Boston College (13-3, 7-2) faces No. 6 seed Duke (10-7, 4-5) in the Wednesday nightcap at 8 p.m. The Eagles are the reigning conference champion after claiming their first ACC title in 2023.
The semifinals begin at 5 p.m. Friday, with the winners of the first two quarterfinal games squaring off. The winners of the evening quarterfinal games will face off at 8 p.m.
The championship game will be played at noon on Sunday, April 28.
All nine games of the tournament will be televised on ACC Network and also will be available on ACC Network Extra.
