NCAA Tournament Bracket
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College and Syracuse won their NCAA quarterfinal games Thursday afternoon, advancing to the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship Weekend. This marks the sixth straight tournament and the 10th time in the last 11 tournaments that multiple ACC teams will play in Championship Weekend.
The Eagles and Orange will face off for the third time this season in the national semifinals. BC won both previous meetings, downing Syracuse 11-10 at home in overtime on April 18 in the regular-season finale and topping the Orange 15-8 on April 28 in the ACC Championship Game. This is the second straight year the teams will match up in the NCAA semifinals. BC defeated Syracuse 8-7 in the 2023 semifinals.
The semifinals and championship game will be played Friday, May 26, and Sunday, May 28, at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. In the other semifinal game, No. 1 seed Northwestern will play Florida.
ESPNU will broadcast the semifinal games at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on May 24, while ESPN will air the championship game at noon on May 26.
No. 2 seed Boston College (18-3) bolted to a big first-quarter lead and rolled from there in downing Michigan, 14-9, in Newton, Massachusetts. BC earned its seventh straight appearance in the national semifinals and has reached the NCAA championship game each of the past six tournaments. Rachel Clark scored four goals for BC, while Kayla Martello added a hat trick.
Emma Tyrrell had a massive game with seven goals and two assists as No. 3 seed Syracuse (16-5) cruised to a 19-9 win over No. 6 seed Yale at the JMI Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York. Syracuse will make its 10th appearance in Championship Weekend, including its second straight. Olivia Adamson and Emma Ward each scored hat tricks for the Orange.
The ACC has had at least one school in the national semifinals in 34 straight tournaments and in 38 of the 40 NCAA Tournaments all-time, dating to 1983, totaling 18 national championships.
Since the league began sponsoring women's lacrosse in 1997, ACC teams have won 12 national titles, and at least one ACC team has played in the national title game in 14 of the last 15 seasons, including the league’s guaranteed spot in the 2024 championship game. ACC teams will make their 28 championship game appearance and 50th and 51st national semifinal appearances next week.
