Notre Dame’s Kavanagh Wins 2024 Tewaaraton Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame graduate attackman Pat Kavanagh won the 2024 Men’s Tewaaraton Award, presented annually to the top college lacrosse player in the United States. The award was presented Thursday during a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
 
Kavanaghis the seventh ACC player to earn the Tewaaraton Award and the second straight. Duke’s Brennan O’Neill was presented the 2023 Tewaaraton Award. He is the first Notre Dame player to earn the highest honor in college lacrosse.
 
A three-time Tewaaraton Finalist and the 2024 ACC Offensive Player of the Year, Kavanagh is the most decorated attacking player in Notre Dame men’s lacrosse history. The native of Rockville Centre, New York, was one of the driving forces behind Notre Dame’s back-to-back national titles in 2023 and 2024, the first two in program history.
 
Kavanagh set the all-time career Notre Dame points (301) and assists (184) records, becoming the only player in program history to reach the 300-point milestone. Kavanagh also holds the top four spots on the program’s record list for assists in a season as well as two of the top three spots for points in a season.
 
Kavanagh totaled 31 goals and 49 assists for 80 points this season while leading the Fighting Irish to a 16-1 record. A USILA First-Team All-American and First-Team All-ACC honoree, Kavanagh played a key role in Notre Dame’s run to the national championship, including a six-assist performance in the title game against Maryland.
 
Kavanagh was one of four Tewaaraton finalists from the ACC this season, joining his teammate, Liam Entenmann, and Duke’s Brennan O’Neill and Virginia’s Connor Shellenberger. The other finalist was Matt Brandau from Yale.
