1 of 2 Top-25 Matchups Again, This Time in Week 3
- For the second consecutive week, the ACC will be part of one of the only two top-25 matchups, when No. 24 Boston College travels to No. 6 Missouri on Saturday, September 14, at 12:45 p.m. ET.
- Of the six top-25 matchups thus far this season including Week 3, the ACC has had a team in three of them.
- In addition to the top-25 matchup, Wake Forest will host No. 5 Ole Miss on Saturday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m. ET in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
ACC in Non-Conference Play
- Through Week 2 of the 2024 college football season, the ACC is 23-5 overall in non-conference play.
- The ACC has posted the second-best winning percentage in non-conference play among Power 4 conferences at 82.1-percent.
- The ACC has recorded five wins against its peer conferences in the Power 4, with all five wins coming on the road (5-1).
- Overall, the ACC has five non-conference wins versus fellow Power 4 conference foes (5-5), tied for the most among all four leagues.
- Week 3 features 12 non-conference games - including four against P4 opponents.
Conference Play Hiatus for Week 3
- The ACC, the only conference to have played conference games in each of the first three weeks (Week 0, Week 1 and Week 2) of the season, will have a hiatus in league play in Week 3, with all 12 games coming in non-conference play.
- Following the Week 3 hiatus in conference play, the ACC will have four conference games in Week 4, including the first-ever ACC league games for both Stanford and Cal.
Week 0 TV Viewership Love
- The 2024 college football season opener between Georgia Tech and No. 10 Florida State in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic Game in Dublin, Ireland, Week 0 on August 24 had 5.0 million viewers.
- The conference contest was the most-watched Week 0 game on any network since 2019. The viewership was up 40 percent over 3.56 million viewers that watched last year’s Aer Lingus College Football Classic in 2023 between Notre Dame and Navy on NBC.
Week 1 TV Viewership History
- The ACC was part of history on Saturday, August 31, as it was ABC’s second-most-watched Kickoff Saturday on record. (ESPN PR)
- The ACC had teams in two of the three games that were part of the historical day in Clemson and Miami.
- The Clemson versus Georgia Aflac Kickoff Game in Atlanta was the most-watched Week 1 Noon Game on record, peaking at 9.5 million viewers.
- The in-state rivalry contest between Miami and Florida in Gainesville, Florida, was the most-watched Week 1 Late Afternoon Game since 2017.
Four Teams Ranked in AP Top 25 Poll
- Four ACC teams were ranked in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 Poll (September 8). Miami continued its climb, moving into the top 10 this week at No. 10. Louisville and Clemson both moved up three spots to No. 19 and No. 22, respectively, while Boston College jumped into the top 25 at No. 24.
- Miami jumped into the top 10 of the AP Poll for the first time since the 2020 season. The Hurricanes were last ranked in the top 10 at No. 9 in the Week 14 poll (December 6, 2020).
- Boston College is ranked in the AP Top 25 this week for the first time since coming in at No. 22 in the Week 12 poll in 2018 (November 11, 2018).
- Three other ACC teams received votes in the poll - Syracuse (63), North Carolina (7) and California (3).
Three Teams Ranked in Coaches Top 25 Poll
- Three ACC teams were ranked in the latest top 25 of the US LBM Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports (September 8). Miami moved up three spots to No. 12, while Clemson climbed two spots to No. 20. Louisville also moved up three spots to No. 21.
- Six other ACC teams received votes in the coaches poll - Boston College (36), Syracuse (33), NC State (10), California (5), North Carolina (5) and Pitt (2).
The ACC is the Conference of Quarterbacks
- Six quarterbacks are ranked in the top 15 of FBS in total passing yards – the most of any conference.
- Five quarterbacks are ranked in the top 15 of FBS in passing yards per game – the most of any conference.
- Five quarterbacks are ranked in the top 15 of FBS in total yards per game – the most of any conference.
- Five quarterbacks are ranked in the top 15 of ESPN’s Total QBR – the most of any conference.
- Eight quarterbacks are ranked in the top 25 of FBS in passing touchdowns - the second-most of any conference.
- ACC had the most of any conferences on the following QB preseason watch lists: Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award (13); Maxwell Award preseason watch list (10); and Davey O’Brien Award (8).
- The ACC has the top-ranked group of quarterback transfers in 2024 by CBS Sports.
- 13 QBs in the league enter the 2024 season with over 20 career touchdown passes and 3,500 career passing yards.
- Since 2018, the ACC has had at least one quarterback drafted in the first round in five different drafts — the only conference to do that.
More Than Just Quarterbacks in the ACC
- The ACC is more than just great quarterbacks, as several players have stood out on the defensive side of the ball so far this year.
- The ACC has three of the top 11 sack leaders through Week 2 of the season, including the top two players in all of FBS in Jahvaree Ritzie of North Carolina (5.0) and Tyler Baron of Miami (4.0).
- The ACC also has four of the top 10 FBS players in tackles-for-loss this season, led by Fadil Diggs of Syracuse (6.0).
- California’s Nohl Williams is tied for the FBS lead in interceptions with three thus far this season.
- Pitt’s Desmond Reid leads all of FBS with an average of 244.00 all-purpose yards per game.
- Stanford’s Tiger Bachmeier leads all of FBS with a punt return average of 34.0 yards per return.
ACC Football Features the Toughest Non-Conference Schedule in the Nation
- 26 games against Power 4 opponents, including Notre Dame, the most of any conference.
- Nine non-conference games against teams ranked in the final 2023 AP Top 25 Poll, the most of any conference.
- 10 non-conference games against teams in ESPN’s 2024 Way-Too-Early Top 25, the most of any conference.
Elite Coaching Leadership
- Six ACC head coaches were named to the 2024 Dodd Trophy Preseason Watch List, no other conference had more.
- Two of the three active coaches to win a national title reside in the ACC.
- Four current ACC head coaches have recorded over 100 career wins at the collegiate level.

Greatness Just Got Greater
- The ACC Board of Directors voted on Sept. 1, 2023, to formally admit the University of California (Cal), Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Stanford University to the Atlantic Coast Conference. Cal, SMU and Stanford joined the ACC as full members with full voting participation effective July 1, 2024 (SMU) and August 2, 2024 (Cal and Stanford). The decision followed the submission of letters of application from all three institutions.
