CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State swept the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis weekly awards for Week 2 of the spring season, as Michaela Laki was named both the ACC Women’s Tennis Player and Freshman of the Week, while teammates Gabriella Broadfoot and Maddy Zampardo were tabbed the Doubles Team of the Week for matches played January 13-19.

In Laki’s first time competing for the Wolfpack, the freshman from Greece earned a pair of wins at home in Raleigh, North Carolina, to help lead NC State to a 2-0 week. In her second collegiate match, Laki took down the No. 13 ranked singles player Savannah Broadus of No. 10 Pepperdine in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 1 singles position. That win followed a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 1 singles spot over Campbell’s Sonia Pieczynska in her first spring season match.
 
In doubles play, Laki teamed up with Kristina Paskauskas on the No. 3 flight to down No. 101 Liam Oved and Alexia Harmon of Pepperdine 6-0 to help lead the Wolfpack to the top-10 win.
 
ACC Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week

Maddy Zampardo, Soph., NC State, Detroit, Michigan
Broadfoot and Zampardo, the No. 5 nationally ranked doubles team, picked up its second weekly conference award this week, going 2-0 at home over the weekend.
 
The doubles team pushed their winning streak to five straight matches a 6-1 win over Campbell’s Mollie Garcia and Sonia Pieczynska on Friday, January 17, and a 6-2 victory over No. 14 ranked doubles team Broadus and Vivian Yang of Pepperdine on Sunday, January 19.
