CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - The 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Lacrosse season begins on Saturday, February 1, with Duke and Syracuse in action.
North Carolina and Virginia open their seasons on Saturday, February 8, while Notre Dame starts its season on Wednesday, February 12.
Two-time reigning national champion Notre Dame is ranked No. 1 in the preseason USILA Coaches' and Inside Lacrosse media polls. In the USILA poll, Syracuse is No. 3, Virginia No. 4, Duke No. 7 and UNC No. 16. Syracuse is No. 2 in the IL poll and followed by UVA (6), Duke (7) and UNC (16).
The Fighting Irish also are are the preseason favorites in the ACC, as selected by the league coaches. They were followed by Syracuse, UVA, Duke and Notre Dame. (

Noting ACC Men's Lacrosse
• The 72nd season of ACC Men's Lacrosse begins Saturday with Duke and Syracuse in action.
• Two-time reigning national champion Notre Dame was tabbed the ACC favorite in the Preseason ACC Coaches Poll. Syracuse, Virginia, Duke and North Carolina, respectively.
• Notre Dame is ranked No. 1 in the preseason USILA Coaches' and Inside Lacrosse media polls. In the USILA poll, Syracuse is No. 3, Virginia No. 4, Duke No. 7 and UNC No. 16. Syracuse is No. 2 in the IL poll and followed by UVA (6), Duke (7) and UNC (16).
• 19 ACC players earned spots on the Preseason Inside Lacrosse All-America first, second or third team – most of any league. Thirteen more notched honorable mention recognition.
• Notre Dame led all schools nationally both with four first-team selections and nine overall on the preseason Inside Lacrosse All-America Team.
• The Fighting Irish were named the preseason favorite to repeat as ACC champions by a vote of the league coaches. They were followed by Syracuse, UVA, Duke and Notre Dame.
• Notre Dame also led all ACC schools with five players on the Preseason All-ACC Team.
• The 2025 ACC schedule features four games per team (two road, two home). The 2025 ACC Tournament will be contested May 2 and 4, featuring the top four teams in the league standings competing at Charlotte's American Legion Memorial Stadium.
• Four ACC coaches rank among the top 10 in career wins among active coaches, most of any conference: Duke's John Danowski (first, 472), ND's Kevin Corrigan (second, 361), UNC's Joe Breschi (third, 251) and Virginia's Lars Tiffany (seventh, 205). Danowski owns the third-most wins of any D-I head coach all-time.
• Notre Dame captured its second straight NCAA Championship in 2024, doing so in dominating fashion as it won four straight games by at least five goals each.
• The ACC owns 19 NCAA Championships, including four of the last five with Virginia in 2019 and 2021 and Notre Dame in 2023 and 2024.
• The five active ACC teams have combined for 27 national championships, including 11 of the last 16.
• Syracuse owns 10 NCAA titles (most of any NCAA program), while Virginia has won seven, UNC five, Duke three and Notre Dame two.
• A current ACC school has played in the NCAA Championship game in 20 of the last 23 tournaments.
• Four ACC teams earned 2024 NCAA Tournament bids and landed among the tournament's top six seeds: Notre Dame (1), Duke (2), Syracuse (4) and Virginia (6).
• The ACC boasts 78 appearances in Championship Weekend, while current membership has combined for 87 appearances. For the 25th time in league history in 2024, the ACC had two representatives in the NCAA semifinals.
• At least one ACC team has advanced to the national semifinals in 49 of the 53 years in which the NCAA Tournament has been contested.
