VT’s Traustason, BC’s Borak Earn ACC Men’s Soccer Players of Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia Tech freshman forward Dagur Traustason earned Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Boston College freshman goalkeeper Andrej Borak notched ACC Defensive Player of the Week accolades for matches played from October 6-12, as announced Tuesday.
 
Dagur Traustason, Fr., F, Virginia Tech (Reykjavik, Iceland)
• Scored all five of Virginia Tech’s goals in wins over Longwood and Louisville last week.
• In the 3-0 win over Longwood, he recorded the program’s first hat trick since October 1, 2019.
• Scored a brace with goals in the 66th and 90th minute in Tech's 2-0 win over Louisville, as the Hokies claimed their first ACC victory of the season.
 
Andrej Borak, Fr., GK, Boston College (Belgrade, Serbia)
• Named ACC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season (Sept. 16).
• Made seven saves, including one on a penalty kick, in BC’s scoreless draw against No. 7 Duke on Friday night.
 
Men’s Soccer Notes
• In the NCAA’s Tuesday RPI report, eight teams rank among the top 30, led by No. 4 Virginia, No. 5 Stanford and No. 10 NC State in the top 10.
• ACC teams have combined for a 65-15-18 record in non-conference play (.755 win percentage, best of any league).
• Four ACC teams rank among the top 15 nationally in scoring: No. 1 Duke (2.75/game), No. 6 NC State (2.5), No. 11 Stanford (2.38) and No. 14 Wake Forest (2.33).
