Week 8 ACC Football Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced its Football Players of the Week following standout performances in Week 8. Honorees were selected by a vote of a select media panel.

QUARTERBACK – Haynes King, R-Sr., QB, Georgia Tech (Longview, Texas)
  • Accounted for 325 yards of total offense in Georgia Tech's 27-18 win at Duke.
  • Passed for 205 yards and rushed for 120, marking the third time this season, and his school-record seventh time as a Yellow Jacket, that he's had at least 100 passing yards and 100 rushing yards in the same game.
  • Especially impressive in the second half, as 240 of his 325 total yards came in the final two quarters of the game.
  • Led the Yellow Jackets to scores on all four of their full possessions in the second half (not including a series of kneel-downs to end the game).
  • Capped his impressive second-half showing with a 28-yard touchdown run with 2:10 to go in the game, which gave the Yellow Jackets a commanding 27-10 lead after trailing 10-7 earlier in the half.
  • With his 205 passing yards, King upped his career passing total at Georgia Tech to 6,132 yards. He is only the fifth player in Tech history to throw for 6,000 yards as a Yellow Jacket and the first to do it over only three seasons at Tech.
  • His 28-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was his 10th of the year. He is only the fourth NCAA Division I FBS quarterback since 2015 with double-digit rushing touchdowns in three-straight seasons, and the first ACC signal-caller to do it since Louisville Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson from 2015-17.
  • Earned his third ACC Quarterback of the Week honor this season.

RUNNING BACK & ROOKIE – Cole Tabb, R-Fr., RB, Stanford (Fort Walton Beach, Florida)
  • Led the Cardinal on the ground against Florida State, logging 28 carries for 118 yards and one rushing touchdown.
  • Set career highs in both carries and rushing yards in the home win.
  • Became the first Cardinal running back not named Micah Ford to rush for 100 yards since 2022 (Casey Filkins).
  • Helped lead Stanford to a 3-0 start at home for the first time since 2018.

RECEIVER – Chris Bell, Sr., WR, Louisville (Yazoo City, Mississippi)
  • Led Louisville with 136 yards on nine receptions, including touchdown catches of 35 and 36 yards, in the win on the road at No. 2 Miami.
  • Recorded his third consecutive 100-yard receiving game, the first Louisville player to do that since Tutu Atwell had four straight games in 2019.
  • His two touchdown receptions give him 12 for his career.
  • Earned his third ACC Receiver of the Week honor this season.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN – Trevonte Sylvester, R-Sr., OT, Louisville (Breaux Bridge, Louisiana)
  • Made his first start of the season in the Cardinals’ 24-21 road win at No. 2 Miami.
  • Played the entire game at offensive tackle and assisted with limiting Miami's potent pass rush to just one sack for the game.
  • Graded out over 90 percent and helped the Cards rush for 119 yards versus the Hurricanes.
  • Posted six knockdown blocks and helped the Cardinals record 367 yards of total offense against the Miami defense that was allowing just 276.0 yards a game entering the contest.
  • The Louisville offensive line allowed just one sack on 37 drop-backs.

DEFENSIVE LINEMAN – Kevin Jobity Jr., Sr., DL, Syracuse (Buffalo, New York)
  • Recorded a career-high three sacks in Saturday's game against Pitt.
  • His three sacks combined for 15 yards of loss.
  • Finished third on the team with six total tackles.

LINEBACKER – Kam Robinson, Jr., LB, Virginia (Tappahannock, Virginia)
  • Blitzing from the outside, Robinson tackled Washington State running back Kirby Vorhees in the end zone for a safety to put Virginia ahead 22-20 with 2:41 remaining in the fourth quarter.
  • The safety gave UVA its first lead of the game and was the difference in Virginia's fifth-straight win.
  • Also added eight tackles, including one tackle-for-loss, and had a pass breakup.
  • Has recorded 35 tackles in four games played this season, the second-most on the team.
  • Garnered his second ACC Linebacker of the Week honor this season.

DEFENSIVE BACK – Jy Gilmore, R-Jr., DB, Georgia Tech (Citra, Florida)
  • Stuffed the stat sheet with 11 tackles, including 1.5 tackles-for-loss and 0.5 sacks, and two pass breakups in Georgia Tech's 27-18 win at Duke, which handed the Blue Devils their first ACC loss of the season.
  • His individual effort led a defensive performance that held Duke to less than half of its season scoring average coming into the game (the Blue Devils were averaging 36.5 points per game prior to Saturday).
  • Part of a Yellow Jackets' defense that held Duke to a season-low 68 rushing yards.
  • A key cog of the Tech defense that was especially stout in the second half, as it held Duke to just 66 yards and no points over three series spanning 14:53, which allowed the Yellow Jackets' offense to score on four-straight possessions, turning a 10-7 deficit into a commanding 27-10 lead.

SPECIALIST – Sam Keltner, R-Fr., PK, SMU (Keller, Texas)
  • Made a career-best three field goals in the Mustangs’ road win at Clemson.
