ACC Announces Volleyball Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Miami’s Flormarie Heredia Colon and North Carolina’s Safi Hampton shared Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors while Louisville’s Cara Cresse was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. Louisville’s Nayelis Cabello garnered ACC Setter of the Week honors while Virginia’s Reagan Ennist was named ACC Freshman of the Week for matches played September 29-October 5.

ACC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Flormarie Heredia Colon, Sr., Outside Hitter, Miami (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic)
  • Totaled 38 kills, an average of 6.33 kills per set.
  • Tied for second in program history for kills in a three-set match with 21 kills against Wake Forest.
  • Third ACC Offensive Player of the Week honor this season (September 15, September 22).
     
ACC CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Safi Hampton, Jr., Outside Hitter, Miami (Jessup, Maryland)
  • Hit a season-high .615 with 16 kills and no errors against Duke on Sunday.
  • Hit .509 on the weekend with just one error.
  • Totaled 28 kills, an average of 4.67 kills per set.
  • Was named to the AVCA Player of the Year Watchlist last week.
     
ACC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cara Cresse, Fifth Yr., Middle Blocker, Louisville (Fort Wayne, Indiana)
  • Recorded 12 total blocks, an average of 1.71 blocks per set.
  • Totaled eight blocks in the upset win over No. 4 Stanford.
  • Helped hold opponents to hit just .156 on the week.
  • Second ACC Defensive Player of the Week Award this season (September 15).
     
 
ACC SETTER OF THE WEEK
Nayelis Cabello, So., Setter, Louisville (Clermont, Florida)
  • Recorded 74 assists, an average of 10.57 assists per set.
  • Totaled eight kills, including the set and match point for the upset win over No. 4 Stanford.
  • Registered 15 digs and seven total blocks defensively.
     
 
ACC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Reagan Ennist, Fr., Outside Hitter, Virginia (Clifton Park, New York)
  • Recorded 44 kills, an average of 5.50 kills per set.
  • Totaled 26 digs, five kills and three service aces on the week.
  • Set a program freshman record for most kills in a match with 32 against Syracuse.
  • Moved to fifth all-time in most kills in a single match against Syracuse.
  • Registered 47.5 points.
