CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – As the Atlantic Coast Conference collegiate cross country season continues, two teams will compete this week on Friday, October 10. California will head to Eugene, Oregon, to compete in the Oregon Bill Dellinger Invite, while Wake Forest heads to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Queens Royals Challenge.
In Oregon, the men will compete in an 8K, starting at 2:15 p.m. ET and the women will compete in a 6K beginning at 3 p.m. ET. This marks the Golden Bears’ third meet of the season and their third consecutive year competing at the Bill Dellinger Invitational.
In its home state of North Carolina, Wake Forest will make its way to the Queen City for the Royals Challenge. The women’s Gold 5K will begin at 5:00 p.m. ET and the men’s Gold 8K will begin at 5:45 p.m. ET. The Demon Deacon men are ranked No. 10 in the USTFCCCA coaches’ polls alongside four other ACC men’s cross country teams.
As ACC cross country teams close in on the last few weeks of the regular season, they are preparing to head to Louisville, Kentucky, for the ACC Cross Country Championships on October 31.
Noting ACC Cross Country
- In the USTFCCCA Week #3 coaches’ polls, five ACC men’s cross country teams were ranked – the most of any conference. The ranked teams were No. 4 Virginia, No. 9 Notre Dame, No. 10 Wake Forest, No. 11 Syracuse and No. 18 Stanford.
- Five women’s cross country teams were ranked – No. 2 NC State, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 11 Stanford, No. 12 Virginia and No. 23 Boston College.
- The NC State women and Wake Forest men have been selected as the ACC preseason favorites.
- Preseason favorite Wake Forest won its second ACC Championship in three years in 2024. The Demon Deacons earned 15 of the 17 possible first-place votes in the preseason poll.
- In 2024, Notre Dame won its first-ever ACC Women’s Cross Country Championship. The Fighting Irish were picked second in the ACC preseason poll for 2025.
