Five ACC teams are currently ranked in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25, headlined by three teams in the top 15. NC State (No. 10), North Carolina (No. 11) and Duke (No. 15) lead the way, while Notre Dame (No. 18) and Louisville (No. 22) round out the ACC contingent. A total of eight 2024-25 All-ACC honorees returned for this season, including Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo, who currently ranks second in the nation in scoring at 29.5 points per game.
The 2026 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament will mark the 49th edition of the nation’s longest-running women’s basketball conference championship, and for the first time, the event will be held at a neutral-site venue outside the Carolinas. Last season, the tournament drew over 70,000 fans and was the only conference tournament to average more than 10,000 fans per session.
Duke was crowned the champion at last season’s tournament and eventually advanced to the Elite 8 of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The ACC has sent at least one team to the Elite 8 for 23 consecutive seasons, the longest active streak of any conference. The next closest streak is 15. The ACC is also tied for the most NCAA Tournament victories since 2014 with 141.
