Seven Teams, 11 Individuals from ACC Schools Earn Automatic Bids to 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Seven Atlantic Coast Conference cross country teams - three men’s and four women’s – earned automatic berths to the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 22, in Columbia, Missouri. Additionally, 11 individuals throughout the conference punched their tickets to the national meet after exceptional performances in Friday’s regional meets.
 
The NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Cross Country selection committee will announce 13 at-large team selections and two at-large individual selections to the NCAA Championships via a selection show on Saturday, November 15, at 5 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
 
Great Lakes Regional
  • Notre Dame swept the Great Lakes Regional, winning both the men’s and women’s titles.
  • The Fighting Irish women needed just 22 points to win the regional – the lowest total in Great Lakes regional history.
  • The women’s title was Notre Dame’s fifth consecutive regional championship.
  • Amaya Aramini set the course record with a time of 19:37.97.
  • Ethan Coleman paced the Notre Dame with a third-place finish (29:45.14).
 
Mid-Atlantic Regional
  • Pitt’s Thomas McMahon earned an automatic qualifier spot after finishing eighth with a 10K time of 29:43.8.
 
Northeast Regional
  • The Boston College women’s team won its first Northeast Regional championship in 19 years.
  • BC was led by runner-up Imogen Gardiner, who finished in a time of 19:53.8.
  • Syracuse’s Selma Anderson also earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, finishing fourth (19:55.3).
  • Syracuse won the Northeast Regional men’s championship for the 13th time in 16 seasons.
  • All five Syracuse scoring runners finished in the top nine of the meet, totaling just 32 points.
 
South Regional
  • Florida State’s Rylee Blade earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships after finishing seventh with a time of 19:29.02.
 
South Central Regional
  • SMU’s Rose Mburu finished sixth (20:02.2) in the South Central regional to earn an automatic qualifier spot.
 
Southeast Regional
  • The NC State women won their ninth consecutive Southeast Regional title.
  • Clemson’s Silvia Jelego, North Carolina’s Vera Sjoberg and Wake Forest’s Angelina Perez earned automatic bids after each finishing in the top seven as individuals.
  • Wake Forest won the men’s Southeast Regional championship, led by individual champion Rocky Hansen (29:10.4).
  • This was Wake Forest’s first men’s Southeast Regional title since 2021.
  • The ACC earned all four men’s individual automatic qualifier bids from the Southeast Regional, with Louisville’s Elsingi Kipruto, Virginia’s Gary Martin and Brett Gardner and Virginia Tech’s George Couttie all finishing in the top seven.
 
West Regional
  • The Stanford women won the West Regional, scoring a total of 66 points.
  • Stanford was led by Amy Bunnage, who made her season debut in the regional and finished fourth (19:19.4).
  • It marked Stanford’s fourth West Regional championship in five years and fifth in the last six regionals.
