CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame junior guard Hannah Hidalgo has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while California guard Aliyahna "Puff" Morris earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors for games played November 10-16.
ACC women’s basketball weekly honors are nominated by member schools and determined by a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel.
PLAYER – Hannah Hidalgo, Jr., G, Notre Dame (Merchantville, New Jersey)
- Averaged 28.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 9.5 steals in a pair of nonconference games last week.
- Scored a career-high 44 points, with a NCAA-record 16 steals in Wednesday’s win over Akron.
- Became the first player in NBA, WNBA or NCAA history (men or women, any division), with 40 or more points and 15 or more steals in a game.
- Added 12 points and three steals against No. 14 Michigan on Sunday.
ROOKIE – Puff Morris, Fr., G, California (Rancho Cucamonga, California)
- Averaged 9.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists to help California to a 3-0 week.
- Posted 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists in a 69-44 win over Charlotte, making her the only freshman in the country with that stat line this season.
- Became the only player in a Power Four conference at 5 feet 5 inches or shorter to record eight rebounds in a game this season.
- Knocked down five 3-pointers against the 49ers, the most by a Cal player this year.
Women’s Basketball Notes
- ACC teams have accumulated 54 victories this season.
- Just over 13.5 percent of all ACC games have been played against Top 25 opponents, the highest percentage among peer power conferences.
- ACC teams have faced 10 ranked opponents this season; the next-closest conference has played just six.
