CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia Tech’s Sonny Sasso was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week for competition in week three of the 2025-26 season.
 
Sonny Sasso, R-So., 197 Pounds, Virginia Tech (Nazareth, Pennsylvania)

• Posted a 5-0 record to help lead Virginia Tech to a sixth-place finish at the inaugural National Duals Invitational event.
• Recorded two ranked wins, including wins over returning All-American No. 4 Joey Novak of Wyoming (12-2, major decision) and Minnesota’s No. 17 Gavin Nelson. (8-4, decision).
• Also scored wins over Cason Howle of No. 7 NC State, Cade Lautt of No. 15 Illinois and Gabe Nagel of No. 9 Minnesota over the two-day event.
• In a loaded bracket featuring 16 of the top teams in the country, the Hokies won three duals over top 24 opponents on the weekend.
