CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – SMU senior guard B.J. Edwards earned Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors, while Duke forward Cameron Boozer claimed Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week for games played from November 17-23, as announced Monday.
ACC men’s basketball weekly honors are nominated by the respective schools and determined by a vote of an 18-member media panel.
B.J. Edwards, Sr., G, SMU (Knoxville, Tennessee)
• Averaged 17.5 points, 11.0 assists (2.0 turnovers), 6.5 steals and 5.0 rebounds in wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Arkansas State.
• In the win over Arkansas State, he recorded a triple-double with career highs of 24 points, 13 assists and 10 steals. It was the sixth triple-double in SMU history and 42nd triple-double in ACC history, but just the second with steals.
• His 10 steals set the SMU record and tied for second in ACC history.
• Shot 59.1% (13-for-22) overall, 6-for-12 from three and 3-for-4 on free throws in the wins.
Cameron Boozer, Fr., F, Duke (Miami, Florida)
• Averaged 19.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals during three Duke victories last week.
• Shot 55.0% (22-of-40) from the field.
• Recorded a pair of double-doubles, including 18 points, 11 boards and five assists in a 78-66 win over No. 24 Kansas in the Champions Classic.
• Recorded 26 points, 12 caroms, four assists and two steals in a 93-56 win over Howard, making 10-of-12 (83.3%) shots from the floor, including 2-of-3 triples.
• Also collected 14 points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocked shots in 21 minutes against Niagara.
