ACC Men's Basketball Quick Hits
• The third annual ACC/SEC Challenge is slated for Tuesday-Wednesday, Dec. 2-3. The event features 16 games, with each league hosting eight contests.
• The leagues played to a 7-7 tie in the inaugural Challenege in 2023, while the SEC prevailed in 2024.
• In the first NET rankings for 2025-26, released Monday, eight ACC teams are among the top 40, led by Duke (2) and Louisville (9) in the top 10. The ACC, Big Ten and SEC each have eight teams in the top 40.
• Including the Challenge, ACC schools have 24 games scheduled against power conference programs this week (17 SEC, 4 Big 12, 2 Big Ten, 1 Big East).
• Three ACC teams are ranked in the national polls: Duke (No. 4 AP/USA Today), Louisville (No. 6 AP/USA Today) and North Carolina (No. 16 AP/17 USA Today). Five others are receiving votes.
• ACC teams already have racked up 20 100-point games. That is the league's most in non-conference play since the 1990-91 season (20). ACC teams posted 11 100-point games in non-conference play last season. (StatsPerform)
• After his 35-point game in the Thanksgiving win over then-No. 22 Arkansas, Duke's Cameron Boozer earned ACC Player and Rookie of the Week honors for games played Nov. 24-30.
• Boozer also was tabbed the USBWA's High-Major Player of the Month for November. In advanced metrics, Boozer ranks No. 1 at KenPom and EvanMiya as the most valuable player in college basketball through the first four weeks.
• The ACC has seven different true freshmen leading their team in total points this season, while no other D-I conference has more than three such players: Cameron Boozer (Duke), Mouhamed Sylla (GT), Caleb Wilson (UNC), Ebuka Okorie (Stanford), Kiyan Anthony (Syracuse), Thijs De Ridder (UVA), and Neoklis Avdalas (VT).
• Five ACC freshmen rank among the top 14 freshmen nationally in scoring, led by Stanford's Ebuka Okorie and Duke's Cameron Boozer, who top all D-I freshmen at 23.0 and 22.9 ppg, respectively:
4. Caleb Wilson, UNC, 19.9 ppg
8. Thijs De Ridder, Virginia, 17.5 ppg
14. Mikel Brown Jr., Louisville, 17.0 ppg
• ACC teams have combined to limit their opponents to 68.2 ppg, which is fewest of any conference.
