UNC’s Nivar, Syracuse’s Izoje Named ACC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina senior guard Indya Nivar has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Syracuse center Uche Izoje earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors for games played November 24-30.

ACC women’s basketball weekly honors are nominated by member schools and determined by a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel.

PLAYER – Indya Nivar, Sr., G, North Carolina (Apex, N.C.)
  • Averaged 12.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists in three non-conference victories at the 2025 Cancun Challenge last week.
  • Posted the second triple-double in program history with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals against South Dakota State.
  • Added five assists and two blocks against the Jackrabbits.
  • Matched a season high with 14 points and set a career high with seven assists in a victory over Kansas State on Friday.
  • Named the 2025 Cancun Challenge Tournament MVP.
ROOKIE – Uche Izoje, Fr., C, Syracuse (Delta State, Asaba, Nigeria)
  • Scored a game-high 20 points with nine rebounds, seven blocks and a pair of steals in Sunday’s 78-62 victory over Howard.
  • Became the first Syracuse freshman to record 20 points, nine rebounds, and seven blocks in a game since 2020.
  • Her seven blocks are the most by an ACC player this season.
Women’s Basketball Notes
  • ACC teams have accumulated 96 victories this season.
  • ACC teams have played 19 games against teams inside the Associated Press (AP) Poll (20 against teams inside the USA Today Coaches Poll), the most among peer power conferences.
  • Four teams are currently ranked in the AP Poll: North Carolina (No. 12), Notre Dame (No. 19), Louisville (No. 23) and NC State (No. 25).
