Georgia Tech’s Haynes King Wins 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King has been named the 2025 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award winner, honoring college football’s top offensive player with Texas ties. The award is selected by a committee of Texas-based journalists, college football dignitaries and former recipients. King, who hails from Longview, Texas, will be honored at a banquet in Tyler, Texas, on January 21, 2026.

King orchestrated a remarkable season in 2025, as he accounted for 3,619 total yards and 27 touchdowns in just 11 games while leading Georgia Tech to a 9-3 record and a 6-2 mark in the ACC.

The only power-conference player this season to average at least 240 passing yards and 80 rushing yards per game, a milestone reached by only four others since 1956—three of whom went on to win the Heisman Trophy, according to sports-reference.com.

King leads the ACC in total offense (329.0 ypg), quarterback rushing (83.8 ypg), quarterback scoring (8.2 ppg) and rushing touchdowns (15), while ranking among the national leaders in each category. His honors this season also include ACC Player and Offensive Player of the Year, a 10th-place finish in Heisman voting, finalist recognition for both the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and the Manning Award and five ACC Quarterback of the Week selections.

A Longview native, King starred at Longview High School, where he led the Lobos to a state championship in 2018—their first in 81 years—under the guidance of his father, legendary Texas high school coach John King. He is Georgia Tech’s first Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recipient.

King and the No. 22-ranked Yellow Jackets will play in the Pop-Tarts Bowl versus No. 12-ranked BYU on December 27 in Orlando, Florida.
