CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia head coach Tony Elliott has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year, it was announced on Thursday, December 4.
It marks the first ACC Coach of the Year honor for Elliott, now in his fourth year as a head coach at Virginia.
He is the first coach of the Cavaliers to win the award since Mike London in 2011.
The award was selected by an 82-member voting panel featuring 65 media voters and the conference’s 17 head coaches.

ACC Coach of the Year
- Guided Virginia to the ACC Championship Game for the first time since 2019.
- Led the Cavaliers to a 10-2 overall record and 7-1 ACC record in the regular season.
- Secured the second 10-win season in program history and tied the 1995 team with seven ACC victories.
- Finished alone atop the ACC regular season standings for the first time in program history.
- Virginia is bowl-eligible for the first time since 2021; last bowl appearance was the 2019 Orange Bowl versus Florida.
- Appeared in the AP Top 25 Poll on September 28 after the upset of No. 8 Florida State; nationally ranked for 10 consecutive weeks, longest since 2004.
- Virginia has been ranked five-straight weeks in the College Football Playoff rankings and achieved its highest CFP ranking in program history at No. 14 on November 4.
- Posted a five-win improvement from the prior season, tied for the fourth best in FBS and the best in UVA history.
- Named a semifinalist for the George Munger Award, Bobby Dodd Trophy and Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year Awards.
